Charming Rustic Outdoor Wedding

wedding portrait ideas @weddingchicks

Lots of love and hard work went into planning Heather + Andrew's wedding, and all of their work certainly paid off as you will soon see. They focused their attention on creating a celebration for their friends and family, and from there the rest fell perfectly into place.
The woodsy decor and wild flower arrangements add the perfect touch of charm and romance to their beautifully styled day. Meredith Sledge Photography captured every last detail, and you can see them all in the full gallery here.

A Woodsy Setting

Andrew and I met and fell in love in the Shenandoah Valley. It has held such a special place in our hearts, so we knew we would want to be married somewhere in the Valley. It was Andrew’s idea, however, to get married at my childhood home! At first I wasn’t crazy about the idea, but it quickly grew on me as he shared his vision to be married in the woods behind my house.

Crafty Groom

After we decided to get married at my childhood home a theme for our wedding easily fell in place. We dreamed of woodsy/rustic touches for flowers and decor. Early on in the planning process Andrew decided that he would build all of the seating for the ceremony. It was hard work, but he carefully crafted beautiful wooden benches for our guests to sit on.

A Perfect Day

Along with Meredith Sledge Photography, we were fortunate to work with many incredible vendors. Everyone we came in contact with worked to make Andrew and I’s wedding day beautiful. We felt so blessed. Looking at our pictures takes us right back to every feeling and moment of that incredible day. Our wedding day was truly perfect in every way.

Don't Sweat The Small Stuff

If I have any piece of advice for future brides it would be to not sweat the small stuff. Somehow those things will come together (even if it doesn't feel like it at times). All the small details are important and help the feel of the wedding, but ultimately, people walk away from the wedding being excited for your marriage.
