These were so wonderfully simple to make! I thought it would be helpful to provide others with the exact amounts we used, since I had such a hard time finding that info anywhere! We bought a 10 lb. box of air dry terracotta clay from a craft shop, a small bag of potting soil (which is a compost mix) and 1/2 lb. of wildflower seeds (we ordered ours from Eden Brothers). In the end though, we only used 10 cups of clay, close to 3 cups of potting soil and only 1/4 lb. bag of wildflower seed – this made 107 seed bombs approx. 1-1/2″ in size. Oh, and we bought 3″x4″ muslin bags with a 2″ round stamp and though they fit fine, I think 4″x6″ bags would have been nicer. Hope that helps someone!!

I am SO excited about making these seed bombs as wedding favors for my wedding in March! I just have a couple of questions. 1) How far in advance can I make the seed bombs without having the seeds begin to germinate (due to the moisture in the clay)? I’d love to be able to go ahead and start making them now if possible, but I don’t want to give my guests favors that won’t grow into beautiful flowers because I made them too early either. I was thinking that in order to preserve them I could put them in a sealed container in the refrigerator. 2) How big of a ball should I make them (quarter size, golf ball size), and how many seeds should I put in each bomb? I was told that too many seeds would end up making them too thick when planted, and possibly choke them out. 3) Do you have the template available for the design in the second from the bottom picture to print on the bags? I really like that one a lot!

Thanks for any help you can give me in making these favors come out wonderfully!
