From the Bride:
As soon as my husband proposed, well actually long before he proposed, I had envisioned the perfect wedding day. Our wedding took place at a beautiful vineyard in Grass Valley California. The vineyard belongs to a family friend the Smiths.

We were also so blessed to work with our amazing photographer Kayla Adams of Kayla Adams & Co. for our engagement and our wedding pictures. She captured our wedding so perfectly. From the Venue to the list of amazing vendors I could not have asked for a more amazing wedding day.

Our wedding coordinator Donna Hoakstra from Joy of Life Events was an instrumental part in making our wedding come alive. She not only helped our vision become reality she put her heart and soul into making it the perfect day. From start to finish Donna took all of the stress from our family and guided us gracefully through the wedding planning process. Donna not only staged and set up the entire event but she also supplied a good portion of our decorations and furniture pieces.

The wedding was an “all hands on deck” event. We had so much help from friends and family putting together centerpieces to creating handmade bridal bouquets and invitations. Through the entire planning process my mom was my biggest supporter. We spent countless hours at local craft stores to create the perfect details to make our wedding unique and special.

The inspiration for our wedding theme came from my now sister-in-law who does vintage markets through her company Junk in the Trunk. I was inspired by her vintage style and all the awesome DIY’s she does. The theme we went for was vintage/shabby chic with fun DIY flair.

Don’t forget to make a list of the photos you would like taken, for example what family members and what poses with your bridesmaids and groomsmen. I had so many cute ideas but on the day of, everything is so hectic that I totally forgot about them all. Send the list to your photographer ahead of time so they can plan for the pictures accordingly and then your are sure to get your shots. Other than that I would say everything else went just the way we wanted it.

Vintage Tea Party Bridal Shower Ideas

plum pretty sugar robes

Are you ready for a trip down memory lane? Simply Put Vintage Rentals teamed up with Simply Jessica Marie to create this beautiful bridal shower inspired by nostalgic childhood memories of playing dress up and having tea parties. These memories were perfectly translated into an elegant bridal luncheon tea party with vintage decor and a romantic color palette of soft pinks, blues and creams with touches of gold.

There are so many adorable details in this vintage tea party bridal shower inspiration! Don’t miss a single one by viewing the full gallery here, all magnificently captured by Kait Winston Photography.

From Simply Put Vintage Rentals & Simply Jessica Marie:
Kelly of Winifred Paper did an amazing job setting the tone of our shoot with her beautiful letterpress invitations and paper goods that were inspired by soft roses and gold details. Once the ladies sent back their RSVP’s, it was time to begin the bridal tea party!

We designed and styled the wardrobe section to be every little (and big!) girl’s dream. The playfulness of childhood, romance of vintage and vibrance of laughter inspired us from the vintage suitcase full of flowers to the precious teddy Jessica adorned with a gold crown and bow tie. Every detail exuded loveliness. When dreaming up what the ladies would look like, we decided on soft curls and braids with a little vintage twist along with soft, romantic makeup.

The sweets station was just as lovely as the tea bar, with a variety of pink and blue sweets made by Sweet Melissa that adorned Simply Put Vintage‘s gold leafed sweets bar. Aren’t those little Scottie sugar cookies adorable? The ladies took their tea and sweets to sit at a lace adorned table and found their seats by locating their names on place cards, which were personalized letterpress tea tags attached to gold tea bags.

Dressed in colorful Plum Pretty Sugar robes, the ladies giggled as they pulled various vintage gowns out of Simply Put Vintage‘s “Sydney” wardrobe, lined with beautiful Rifle Paper Co. paper. Their eyes glistened as they tried on large, gorgeous, vintage rings and necklaces from Palm Beach Vintage Jewelry. Color and texture were extremely important to us as we pulled together the look of the wardrobe area. We chose vintage pieces diverse in color and texture including the dress form, velvet gold tufted chair, gold and silver jewelry, dresses of lace, pinks and blues, and the light coral wardrobe. It was a dreamy afternoon.

When it was time to create the tea station, we knew we wanted the bar to be overflowing with teacups filled with soft pink and coral peonies and various types of teas from which the ladies could choose. One of our favorite details was the display of tea bags that Jessica hand painted with liquid gold leaf and strung along strands of lace that hung from the doors of the tea station.

After enjoying their treats, the ladies headed to the lounge area, which was set up inside of one of the many gorgeous rooms at Tatton Hall. Tatton Hall is a private residence in Raleigh, NC that was built in the 1930’s. We choose to place the lounge area in one of our favorite rooms in the house, a sunroom complete with original blue and white chevron tile floors, huge windows that allow sunlight to pour in, and original exposed wood beams. We selected a white tufted settee and matching chair to be paired with a green and grey French chair, along with a blue trunk to complete the look. The girls ate petite cakes and sipped tea as they lounged in this beautiful room. The afternoon was perfect for our tea party, and we could not be happier with the sweet results!

Vintage Pink And White Wedding

vintage bridal style

Sometimes the best love stories take awhile to play out. Case in point our next wedding. Renske waited five years for her boyfriend to pop the question, when he finally did she knew exactly how their love story would play out. Their day would ooze antiques, old books and have a muted pastel theme with a “vintage love story them.”

As you will soon see the entire day was planned to perfection, overflowing with thoughtful details and hand-made touches. You must see more of this vintage pink and white wedding in the full gallery here. All beautifully captured by Louise Vorster Photography at the The Hertford in South Africa.

I loved all the do-it-yourself wedding projects, it made the whole day so much more special knowing everything was made with love.  Most of the decor and details were made by myself and my sister-in-law. We worked more than 7 months to have this magical decor and details.

For the wedding invites, we went to ALL the second hand bookshops in and around Pretoria to buy selected books, each guest got a book specially selected for them. My bouquet was a combination of a protea and paper flowers. The bridesmaids also got paper flowers and we added some paper flowers on the tables as well. We also punched storybook hearts for the confetti.

When I look back at the day… It was truly just like a love story you will read about in storybooks. Every aspect of the day was so magical and beautiful. So blessed withe every tear, every smile and every moment! What a magical memorable day!
