Pink And Blue Carnival Inspired Wedding

Not only did Sarah, the bride, design her wedding from start to finish, but she also made an incredibly fun wedsite that matched her entire pink and blue carnival inspired wedding. Above is a little snippet of the site. You simply must check it out, we know you will totally  love.

Sarah also designed some spectacular wedding invitations complete with die-cut tickets, signage for the whole wedding, custom graphic illustrations that instruct guests how to play the carnival games, and even cards on the tables explaining what size plates are designated for different courses. She did such an amazing job bringing her vision to life and making everything super cohesive. She even created the balloon animal stamp/monogram for the wedding that you see repeated throughout. You can see way more of this carnival inspired wedding in the full gallery here.  Captured by Boise, Idaho wedding photographers Ampersand Studios.

Another unique thing about this wedding is that there were no real flowers present. The bride and bridesmaids bouquets were purchased in the Philippines and are made completely of wood. The paper boutonnieres were created by the couple as were the large pink and blue paper flowers that graced the facade of the chapel during the ceremony. The runner has thousands of hand placed and glued silk flower petals and was rolled out after the seating of the families and before the bridal party procession. All pieces from this wedding can be preserved forever and the bouquets also served as a souvenir and gift for the bridesmaids.

Sarah and Will wrote their own vows, and had the entire congregation in reaching for the tissues. And yes the officiant is the owner of the venue. He and his mustache come with the package!

The venue that Sarah and Will chose sits on a 60 acre property just outside of Boise. Only about 7 minutes from the freeway, you would have no idea you were this close to civilization! A one-lane dirt road requires guests to be transferred back to the site via covered wagon where you come upon an old western town set. Complete with a bank, sheriffs office, motel, and even a chapel. The novelty location was perfect for Sarah and Will’s nostalgic carnival wedding. A 2-5 minute walk around the grounds provides acres of lovely fields, rose bushes, and even a small lake which are all picturesque backgrounds for portrait sessions.

One thing that stood out to me as being a really creative alternative to the ‘dollar dance’ — was the 50/50 raffle. Advertised in the invitations, guests new that they could purchase raffle tickets at 6 for $5. The pot grew and the winner must be present at 8pm to win half of the money in the box. 9 times out of 10, the entire pot will be forfeited to the bride and groom to help on their honeymoon. What a great idea!

Full rolls of pink tickets were the base of the centerpieces, with fun candy favors sticking out of the vases. A fun and youthful table setting was perfect in the two large circus tents that covered the reception. Then, 5 side by side pink and white striped tents housed the cotton candy and popcorn station, candy bar and custom carnival games in which every little detail was hand crafted by the bride and her posse! Staff was hired to manage the games and give prizes to those who knocked down all the milk bottles, got the frisbees in the slots, or hit the golf balls into the game board. There were also simultaneous games of corn hole and beer frisbee going on all afternoon. I have never seen guests have so much fun interacting at a wedding.

What a bright, fun filled wedding! And I love the way they mentioned adult only affair on the save the dates, it can be so hard to know what way to word it so guests know whether or not to bring their kids but they got the balance perfect!

Jet – I designed the guestbook pages from scratch and printed them off at FedEx Kinkos on some really sturdy paper. Then just placed them into a hot pink satin guestbook :)
