I found beautiful ruffled ombre linen from I Do Linens that was made of a transparent fabric and just the most unique thing I had ever seen. It was hand dyed and hand sewn. The artisan quality of this linen would go with the circlet perfectly. I wanted to carry these ombre shades of lilac throughout, and so I was delighted to find the handmade ombre drinking glasses from Anthropologie! In styled shoots I always want to show ideas that can actually be applied to a real wedding or any special occasion.
Tips on Tasty Treats and Table Decor
Who isn’t starving and looking for food the moment the ceremony is over? I just love the idea of having a treat waiting for them at their place setting for immediate gratification. And why not make them purple treats? Here I used handmade lavender marshmallows and caramels, as well as sugared fruit pate in the shape of a heart. I found the hand-made food section on Etsy incredibly helpful and inspiring.
One way to create a whimsy place setting if you are having a buffet (so there will be no silverware on the tables) is to use these adorable napkins from CAKE that have illustrations of silverware on them from cake vintage.
To style your own ethereal table, add height by gluing tapered candlesticks in ordinary milk glass bud vase. I love re-purposing objects for something new. like building centerpieces in milk glass tea cups, dessert cups, or sugar and creamer dispensers.
For your sweetheart table centerpiece, I suggest building it on a cake plate with oasis block in the center as the base. The shape of cake plate is a great vessel for wedding centerpieces because it’s height and lets it spill over the edges yet leaving a glimpse of the details on the cake plate edge visible.
Don’t have time to scour flea markets? There are tons of great vintage rental companies out there now that you, your stylist, or florist can rent all these and more.
How To Make The Lollipop Garden
The “lollipop garden” is an easy and wonderful favor idea that a bride can either purchase from Etsy, or make herself. I love these lollipops because they were all so beautiful and had the most amazing flavors like mulled wine or honey lavender. Giving ordinary treats a fun twist by using unique gourmet flavors is whimsy way to customize your wedding.
To make the display, I just rented a milk glass dish from a vintage rental company, filled it with Styrofoam, covered it with moss, then stuck the lollipops in. Easy breezy!
