Maggie Sottero’s new lower-impact gowns

sustainable collection by Maggie Sottero

Did you know that looking this good could also give back to the environment? You read that right! One of the industry’s most influential brands, Maggie Sottero, has introduced “lower impact” gowns in the Spring 2024 collection, just one example of how Maggie is working to create a more sustainable future for the next generation and beyond. They’re on a mission to learn the best practices, reduce their environmental impact, and restore vital ecosystems–all while still giving brides what they look for in a Maggie gown, the latest trends at an affordable price point.

so, what prompted the new vision for the brand?

"The viability of our future is predicated on us re-imagining all that we do. As a leader in bridal fashion, we have a responsibility to be the change agent for you, our brides, our family and community, and our planet. Systemic changes have and will continue to be made within Maggie, but we all must work together," says CEO and Creative Director Kelly Midgley.

As part of their company-wide approach, Maggie Sottero is focusing on Waste Reduction, Resource Consumption, and Biodiversity Protection. They’ve already made progress, and this is just the beginning! Already, 3,000+ pounds of plastic shipping waste have been recycled, and they’ve diverted 100% of excess stock from landfills and into textile recycling programs and donations. In fact, 300+ discontinued gowns were donated to Brides Across America, a community organization that provides free dresses to qualified military, first responders, and healthcare workers. They’re focusing on recycling their materials and, in turn, using recycled materials where they can like in their shipping boxes.

“We are rising to meet this critical moment for people and the planet. We’re implementing systems change throughout our organization, embedding sustainability as a core directive for every team. We are working as quickly as possible to reduce our environmental impact,” says Global Sustainability Director and Designer Patricia DeLaunay.

And at Maggie Sottero, they’re focused on more than just reducing their own footprint; they’re actively participating in programs to protect wildlife and conserve habitats. They’ve partnered with various organizations, including pilot sponsorship of International Bird Rescue Conservation Action Program, Cool Effect, and Friends of Great Salt Lake, to name a few, all in an effort to create greater environmental sustainability for future generations of brides.

Now that you can feel good about it, get ready to fall in love with some gowns from this collection…
