Bride and groom pose near Denver Millennium Bridge

With the colorful florals, bright art installations and murals, this inspiration shoot in the Denver Arts District is sure to brighten your day! Jared and Cora, a real-life couple, were married years prior and never had proper wedding portraits taken. You can only imagine what a dream come true it was for them when Danny Baker contacted them and asked them to show off their love and their city in this epic shoot! It’s easy to see what Danny saw in this couple, with a cool kid edge, and eyes full of love, you can’t help but fall for these two.

While our couple is absolutely at the center of this shoot, Danny Baker wanted to take us on a tour of their new hometown; from the architecture to the art, Denver is sure to impress. These rainbow florals by Prive Event Design tie in beautifully to the natural colors of the city created by some of the coolest murals we’ve ever seen. You can see even more from this awesome shoot in the full gallery. Read on to hear more from Photographer, Danny Baker of Epic Imagery about how this shoot came to be.

A DREAM COME TRUE

Denver wedding with bride and groom posing with angel wings

We all know a couple that has had their hopes and wedding plans dashed by the pandemic, but it was quite the opposite for Jared and Cora. With our studio being new to the Rocky Mountain region after having moved to Colorado from LA mid-COVID, we were eager to shoot some new sample material and get ourselves acquainted with a new urban aesthetic. Cora being a social media strategist, we came across her Instagram profile and immediately loved her vibe, and more importantly, the love she and Jared share that’s so evident in their pictures. We knew we needed them for a shoot! Imagine our surprise to find out after contacting them that they had eloped in a quickie civil ceremony in 2018, and never had any wedding pictures taken, or even dressed for the occasion. Not only were they completely overjoyed, but they began to tell friends and family that they were finally about to get the wedding pictures that had been longed for. Naturally, this was our “here, hold my beer” cue to make some magic happen, and boy did it!

MAKING ART IN THE ARTS DISTRICT

As we were scouting for the shoot in our new city, we were immediately drawn to the sleek lines and tall buildings that were reminiscent of our former home in LA, but we fell head over heels for the RiNo Arts District. Vivid murals, music piping into alleyways, and an overall energy that seemed to breathe life into a city that has been silenced for months, all had us swooning hard. Throughout the day, the four of us compared music tastes as the sounds of Fleetwood Mac blared onto the sidewalk, and we commiserated over our longing for live music again. We heard all about Cora and Jared’s insatiable craving for travel and adventure, and we traded anecdotes and restaurant recommendations from our time in Colorado thus far. Not only were we able to give this couple an incredible gift that we had no idea had been so desperately wanted, but we were able to connect on a meaningful level, that we will carry with us through our next adventures in this incredible city.
