10 must-have items every bride needs on her wedding day

Romantic, thrilling, pure bliss–yes, your wedding day is all those things and more, but it’s also you vs. the elements–a ticking clock, humidity, less-than-sober besties, wind, you get the picture. And while it’s impossible to prepare for every possible mishap, with all the shared knowledge and experience that has passed through these digital pages through the years, it would be a shame if we didn’t at least try. Here are the 10 absolute must-haves that every bride (or MOH) needs in her emergency kit.

1. styling tape kit

Whether you’re dealing with a plunging neckline, a strapless masterpiece, or anything in between, you’ll want to make sure that the girls are on their best behavior, if you know what we mean. It’s a looong day, so they’re gonna need some backup. This styling tape kit will cover all of your bases (literally). It includes a reusable lift and shape bra, no-show nipple covers to protect and smooth, and boob tape for any custom lifts that need to be made on the spot. Even if you don’t think you’ll need it, trust us when we say, get it! Mom, grandma, your bridesmaids–everyone can use a little help in this department, and it’s always better to be prepared. There are plenty of styling tape kits out there, but Nood is our favorite on the market, and it may or may not be because of their slogan, “With great cleavage comes great responsibility.” 💀

2. heel guards for grass

Yes, these exist, and yes, they’re genius! No need to compromise on your wedding shoes. Simply, pop them on your heels and they distribute the weight so you don’t sink in the grass. Even if you’re not planning on an outdoor wedding, you’ll definitely want to take some portraits around the grounds of the venue. If your wedding is in the great outdoors, consider buying these babies in bulk and putting them in a basket near the welcome sign so that your guests can help themselves.

3. steamer

Even if your gown went into the bag perfectly steamed, it’s bound to pick up a wrinkle or two on the ride to the venue, and the same goes for your bridesmaids’ dresses. Some venues do provide steamers or irons, but depending on how well they’re maintained, they may spray rust and other minerals from the water onto your precious dress. That’s why we always recommend bringing your own steamer–better safe than sorry. There are plenty of economic options out there but we just saw this vacuum-steamer one in action, and it cuts the work in half! Plus, once you’ve tried a steamer, you’ll never go back to ironing–just saying.

4. makeup wipes

From happy tears to humidity, there are plenty of reasons that you should keep makeup wipes on hand on your big day. It’s also a good idea to leave a pack or two in the bathroom basket for your guests, because, remember, cute guests make for cute pictures 😉.

5. fillable travel perfume bottle

Take it from us, weddings are a workout. You’re essentially about to walk a marathon in heels and a gown that weighs more than you usually lift on leg day. Babe, you’re only human; you’re going to sweat. Deodorant and perfume can only do so much, but you’ll want some reinforcement. Put some of your signature wedding-day scent in one of these fillable perfume bottles to keep in your clutch so you can give yourself a little refresh throughout the day.

6. breath freshening kit

Your mouth is going to be seeing a lot of action on your wedding day–think back to when you first started dating. Keep your breath fresh with a DIY travel-size dental kit. You can brush quickly after lunch and before the ceremony with these tiny disposable toothbrushes that already have toothpaste on them, and freshen up with a breath strip after cocktail hour so you’re all set for your couple’s portrait sesh.

7. blister kit

You’re going to be spending a long time in shoes that you probably have only worn a handful of times (if at all). Blisters are a big possibility. Prep your feet by placing these blister buffers in places that are likely to rub, and keep these pre-medicated bandages on hand, just in case, so you can keep the party going.

8. stitch gun

A strap snaps, your bustle falls out, your bridesmaid’s zipper pops, and there are an endless number of wardrobe malfunctions that can plague any given wedding day. Don’t let them get you down. This trusty stitch gun puts a temporary fix on just about any clothing emergency. Just click and stitch, it’s that simple.

9. veil weights

Of all the wedding fails we’ve seen, wind is the #1 culprit. Any bride who has worn a veil outside, even for a second, can attest to the instant fear that a strong gust can instill in even the most fortified bride. Ditch the stress with these cute pearl veil weights that will ensure your veil stays exactly where it should–safely on your head and, of course, on the ground.

10. cute handkerchief

Happy tears are the most photogenic, so make sure your photographer can capture those candid moments in all of their glory with an aesthetically pleasing handkerchief. We’re obsessed with The Handkerchief Shop, where you can order custom embroidered ones with your own designs!

Now throw them all in your go bag, and let’s get you married!
