Dromoland Castle in Ireland. It almost feels like you’ve walked into a fairytale, doesn’t it? These two love birds wanted a truly unique adventure for their wedding day and they couldn’t have picked a better location!
With such a charming venue they didn’t need much to bring their dream wedding to life. The bride used soft shades of blush and gold mixed with natural greenery and hints of sparkle. The end result is what wedding fantasies are made of!

Destination wedding adventure

I had visited Ireland the year before with my soon-to-be husband. I loved everything about this wonderful country – the rolling green hills, the people, the shops, the historical castles. I wanted our wedding to be an adventure for us and for our family and friends so we decided on a destination wedding. After months of searching from overseas, we picked Dromoland Castle as our wedding venue. It was perfect!
Finding the perfect dress
I did the whole entourage experience for my first two dress shopping appointments. Although I loved having my close friends there, it was kind of overwhelming having so many opinions. I found my dress at a small boutique store. It was a Wednesday afternoon and I wondered into the shop by myself just planning on taking a look. I would up walking out an hour later with my dream dress!
Historical destination venue
Since Brendan is part Irish, we thought it would be a truly unique experience to get married in Ireland. We discovered the stunning Dromoland Castle and we knew it was perfect for our day! The castle, a magnificent Renaissance structure built in the 16th century, was once the royal seat of the O’Brien clan, direct descendants of Irish King Brian Boru. It is the perfect blend of old-world elegance and modern-day comfort. Dromoland serves as one of Ireland’s finest castle hotels and housed the wedding of our dreams!
Planning a wedding? Be sure to follow your heart
My advice is to definitely follow your heart! Planning a wedding can be so overwhelming. This is true for any wedding and destination weddings can be particularly challenging! Your friends and family will have their opinions about everything from your dress, to your food, to your flowers. This can make you doubt things and drive you crazy! Remember that it’s you and your partner’s wedding. You don’t want to look back and wish you had stuck to what you originally wanted but allowed someone else to change your mind.
