Weekend Palm Springs Wedding Under a Canopy of Lights

Jewel toned flower wall

Zack and Margo wanted to keep their dreamy destination wedding close to home, so they chose the Avalon Hotel in Palm Springs to host their weekend celebration, and it was pure magic! COJ Events transformed the space into a romantic Italian garden filled with jewel toned florals under a sparkling canopy of lights.

Let's face it, we’re in love with every last detail from this magical day, including the mismatched black bridesmaid dresses! See it all for yourself first hand in the full gallery for more candid moments from Mi Belle Photographers.

Destination Palm Springs

From the bride: We visited all sorts of hotels and estates in Palm Springs, and the Avalon Hotel fit. We loved how we could dance outside, and there was also a place where we could party inside after the 10pm music curfew kicked in. The Avalon also allowed us to buyout the whole hotel such that each hotel guest would be a wedding guest. We loved the idea of our guests walking outside of their rooms and mingling with other guests, and everyone hanging at the pool together during the day. We ended up having a pool party on Friday afternoon, rehearsal dinner on Friday night, and wedding Saturday evening which all of the guests were invited to and attended.

Weekend wedding in Palm Springs

Our dream of making a true weekend out of the wedding absolutely came true. I had a specific vision for the wedding as far as the overall aesthetic and feel. COJ Events recommended ideas, vendors and made it all happen. They told us what would work well and what wouldn’t, and helped us craft the perfect weekend. Most importantly, the execution that COJ accomplished the weekend of the wedding was impeccable.

Italian garden theme

Zack and I travelled to Italy for two weeks the summer before the wedding. That trip totally inspired the Italian garden theme. For the flowers, I wanted pinks, purples, blues, white, all mixed with a ton of green. Since the ceremony and rest of the party would all be after sundown, we wanted candles everywhere. We used the same Italian garden theme on our save the dates, invitations, and signage at the wedding weekend itself.

Under a canopy of lights

We tried to keep the romantic Italian garden feel throughout by including a canopy of lights, and multiple structures with florals hanging off. We also had a flower wall with the same floral theme continued! The rehearsal dinner set the tone where we had so many flowers on the table that the food had to be passed around! We also included marble table numbers that I was absolutely obsessed with, and name cards in the form of tags attached to everyone’s wine glasses.

Take it all in

We continued the marble aesthetic at the wedding with marble signs for all of the hors’douvres and appetizer stations. It was all so beautiful. My favorite part of the wedding day was standing under the chuppah during the ceremony, I looked out and saw all of our friends and family watching us. I took it all in, and that set the tone for the rest of the night. I just wanted to enjoy myself, enjoy the night with Zack, and take it all in.
