the vision: classic elegance with a citrus twist
We wanted our wedding to be classic, elegant, and timeless. We both love the color yellow and quickly decided that the theme would be white, yellow, and black tie. We chose seasonal white flowers to complement the venue and added lemons to suit our color palette. Our wedding planners, DSA Weddings, were amazing and worked with a local florist, Serafima Pavlova, who sourced the flowers needed to bring our vision to life.
their love story
Ben and Stacey first met at Barclays Capital Investment Bank, where they worked on the same team. They would grab coffee each morning and often went on afternoon walks in search of sweet treats. After working together for roughly 18 months, they eventually went their separate ways but remained good friends and kept in touch. An opportunity arose for them to work together again at UBS, where their friendship grew even stronger. A couple of years into their working relationship, Ben considered moving to Hong Kong, which triggered a feeling Stacey hadn’t experienced before. Stacey began to question whether her relationship with Ben was simply a friendship or something more. At a mutual friend's wedding, Stacey decided to test their relationship and made the first move, which Ben reciprocated. They got engaged in the summer of 2022 in Paris. Ben personally designed Stacey’s ring—he’s very creative and has a meticulous eye for detail.
the venue
Deep down, we knew we wanted a destination wedding because we have such an international group of family and friends. In 2019, we traveled to Croatia and Montenegro and had an amazing time. On this trip, we stumbled across a tiny town called Perast and fell in love with the location and the Grand Heritage Hotel where we stayed. We remembered one morning at breakfast, overlooking the views, when Ben said, “Wouldn’t it be amazing if our friends and family could see this too?” We agreed this would be the perfect chance for our nearest and dearest to experience a place we loved—and somewhere we were fairly confident nobody had been before. We started searching for wedding planners, and it quickly became the only option we wanted. It’s probably not the most conventional way to pick a wedding venue, given how restrictive we were, but it worked out perfectly for us.
the fashion
When we got engaged, I naturally became obsessed with finding the perfect dress. I tried on numerous dresses, but none felt quite right until I came across the “Love in Portofino” dress by a talented Australian wedding designer called J. Andreatta. It was love at first sight, and I knew it would be perfect for Perast. I was lucky to have three dresses on the day. After the main ceremony and pictures at sea, I changed into a sleek silk halter-neck dress from Meshki for the wedding breakfast and our first dance. For the cake cutting, fireworks, and the party, I changed into a sparkly rhinestone-covered dress from “Oh Polly.” Ben wore two custom-made suits from Suit Supply. The white jacket was 100% silk, with his initials and our wedding date woven into it. His accessories were also from Suit Supply.
For accessories, I had chosen the Jimmy Choo Sacaria heels years before Ben and I even started dating. I also wore Manolo Blahnik shoes in royal blue with the Meshki dress and clear heels from Mango with the sparkly dress. I lost my mother 12 years ago and wanted to ensure I had a memento of her with me throughout the day. My diamond necklace was repurposed from one of her rings and my “something blue” was a sapphire ring passed down from my grandmother.
the food and drink
Prior to the wedding, we flew to Montenegro and stayed at the Grand Heritage to taste the food and sample different cakes. We chose beef Wellington—not only because it was delicious but also because we knew our guests would love it. On the day, we served canapés during cocktail hour and a four-course meal for our wedding breakfast, along with a free bar to keep guests sufficiently fed and watered.
the cake
For our wedding cake, we wanted something unique, so we chose a giant mille-feuille cake with fresh raspberries, as a nod to France, where we got engaged. It was a huge hit with our guests!
words of wisdom from the happy couple
Enjoy the process and work as a partnership! There will be bumps along the way, but remember, it’s likely the one time in your life when most of your loved ones will be together. Stay present and soak in the atmosphere. Plan as much as you can, but let go of control on the day—trust your team to guide you. Finally, invest in the best photographers (like Alexandra & Vladimir) and videographers to relive these precious moments forever.
