Two Brides Are Better Than One for this New Year’s Eve Wedding

Portrait of two brides in front of cream marble steps

Rebecca and Miquel met in high school, and unlike most high schoolers, they decided with a simple seriousness that they belonged together.  Some people search their entire lives to find their other half, but this couple was lucky enough to have known each other for more than half their lives. Finally, after two decades of friendship and three years of dating, they both knew it was time to make it official. Rebecca had a custom ring ready to be picked up on New Year's Eve. She had plans to propose, but after a night out celebrating with all their friends, it felt right to simply get down on one knee and ask Miquel to marry her right then.  Keep scrolling to see all of the incredible photos by Niki Marie Photography of the Colony Club Detroit with flowers provided by Viviano.  And don't forget to click on the full gallery at the bottom of the page to see even more from these brides' special day!

'Two brides are better than one' was the motto for this New Year's Eve wedding. The magical sparkler exit at their ceremony set the tone for the fun reception celebration to come. Since Rebecca and Miquel wanted to incorporate the arrival of a new year into their celebration, they had custom table numbers made with New Year's resolutions on them. They also created a custom drink menu, custom beverage napkins, and signature drinks for their guests to enjoy.

Perhaps one of the most memorable moments of the evening was the happy couple's outfit change from their long, elegant, sequined white dresses into custom-fitted white matching suits and bedazzled bride hats for their reception––perfect party attire! They took the time to practice their first dance with their parents to make it a special and notable event, and the DJ (The Todd Everett Experience) and live musicians (Spags Music) brought a one-of-a-kind energy that made everyone feel like a kid again.

"The day really does fly by so fast - take all the photos, no matter how cold it is, or how long it seems like it's taking.  Don't get frustrated or think you have somewhere else to be because all those moments are exactly where you need to be, and they are the ones you will want to remember.  If something isn't perfect, it's okay, no one will notice but you. Just have a great time, let go and let the magic of the love take you away!"
