Both Jennifer and Rodel love to travel and explore new places so they decided to go with a travel theme for their simple, intimate wedding. We wanted to do a travel theme which reflected us because we love to explore! Every year my husband and I have traveled to a different destination and celebrate New Years Eve and New Years. When we were still dating my husband asked me out the day after New Years, and he proposed to me the day after New Years. We have been lucky enough to celebrate New Year's Eve in Time Square, Seattle, Aruba, Miami, St. Maarten to name a few.

Our table names were named after the airports we have visited, which were created by Georgia Hanson of Georgiarts. We met Georgia at the Alameda Antiques Faire, she also created a number of signage for us, including airplane wood cutout with our wedding date.

We also carried the travel theme to our escort cards. My husband loves to take photos so we gathered all the photos he took (in the past) of our guests and created "passport" type escort cards using Instagrams format and printing them using a serviced called, Printstagram's Miniprints. We used Green Garden Stamps (Etsy vendor) and created a personalized rubber stamp heart - made to order with your initials. We used card stock and the embossing powder from Paper Source and created the thermography raised print to distinguish the dinner selection. It came down to the little details.

We surprised our guests with a performance from Laura Weinbach (of Foxtails Brigade). She performed as our guests were entering the venue. She was great and she also performed an acoustic cover of John Legend - Stay With You, as our first dance, it was special. One of the highlights of our wedding was a special performance for my husband. I surprised him with a flashmob with our bridal party starting the dance and ended with all of our guest participating in the surprise. I secretly coordinated the surprise with all our guests.

It all happened so fast. Our wedding/reception adventure was perfect. By planning ahead and having a detailed timeline really help us anticipate any confusion with our vendors, wedding party members and guests. Our wedding had to start right at 5pm and end at 11:00pm. I only wish we we had an extra hour or two to mingle and dance the night away with my husband and our guests.

Read on to see how much this travel-themed wedding cost. Please note that costs change as the years go by, and prices are subject to change. This is just one couple’s breakdown to give you a rough estimate on how much a wedding like this may cost you.

We had a budget for the wedding and we ended not going over it too much. We wanted the the whole wedding to be a reflection of us a couple and wanted to treat our guests.
I'd rather not say what we spent but we definitely spent way less by doing some of the following. By using the Wedding Chicks Printables we saved a significant amount, it would have cost us way over our budget to print all of our invitations but we were able to do it under $300.
I also saved a lot by buying a dress that was on sale. My dress was under $1K.
Another way we save was visiting the Treasure Island Flea and the Alameda Point Antiques Faire. We managed to find vintage glass to use as vases and by using our own vases we saved a lot. I wanted to do my own flowers to save but I realized that there was no time for me to tackle the entire project on the day of. We met with our florist and she was open to using the vases and was wonderful to work with For our decorations like our centerpieces we found them for sale at our local craft store. We also found a number of treasured custom items on Etsy like, flower girl basket, ring bearer's bow ties and ring pillow, cake topper, veil, hair accessories and jewelry for myself and my bridesmaids. Our signage was made by the talented, Georgia Hanson. We met her at the Treasure Island Flea market.  She uses recycled wood. Which was inexpensive, Eco friendly and rustic. They were perfect.
Photography and videography were important to my husband and I. After meeting a number a vendors we were fortunate to find best candidates to capture our special day. Both vendors turned out awesome and we are very happy with both of them. We are honored that they were a part of our wedding. They were both great people too!
Reception was all about our guests. We love our family and friends so much. We wanted to make sure they had a great time and great food at the reception.
