A Winter White Christmas Wedding at Chateau de Nainville-les-Roches
Katie and Jack would occasionally run into each other on nights out in New York City with their mutual friends. As time unraveled, they got to know each other. They went on their first date in the springtime, making their relationship official by summer. Jack proposed to Katie while on a sunny Saturday walk in the West Village. Later that afternoon, the couple was greeted by friends who had traveled to celebrate their engagement!
For Katie and Jack’s wintertime wedding, enchanting holiday decor and glamorous ballrooms merged with a sentimental focus on family. Although Katie is a teacher and enjoys her summers off work, she felt that December offered a different type of magic for their wedding. The couple didn’t shy away from a short engagement either and found that booking vendors in the off-season made their short timeline much more manageable.
Hosted at Katie’s dream venue, the Westchester Country Club was booked after only two weeks of being engaged. This location provided pristine grounds for the couple’s outdoor photos, as well as spectacular indoor ballrooms. The building was decorated with cedar boughs that twisted along outdoor pillars while wreaths hung in the corridors. As guests arrived, they were greeted by a remarkable display of illuminated Christmas trees by Amodio's Garden Center in the foyer, which gleamed with red ornaments and holiday bows.
Katie’s mother passed away in 2016, but she was able to give Katie her wedding band. Katie reset the ring for a modernized look and wore it to celebrate the close relationship between her and her mother. She also chose to pair her wedding gown with a lace-trimmed veil inspired by the mantilla-style veil her mother wore as a bride.
The couple exchanged vows in a private church ceremony surrounded by their closest family and friends. Katie was a vision in a ruched ivory strapless gown holding a classic white rose bouquet.
Dinner and dancing were held in two separate ballrooms. Formal dining was hosted in a sophisticated color palette of ivory and gold, while a tasteful disco-ball dance party was held in the other space. The couple toasted their evening with heirloom “bride” and “groom” coupe glasses, which were used at Katie’s parents' wedding nearly fifty years prior.
With the help of Katie’s family, her aunts provided all of their floral arrangements for their day. Orchids were a focus at the reception tables, reaching from lofty crystal vases and running down the center as a runner.
Then, after the heartfelt toasts, came a knock at the ballroom door. SANTA surprised everyone with an early visit and a bag full of goodies for everyone to really get the party started.
