This All Day and Night Wedding in Mykonos Brought All of the Fun

Magic in Mykonos

This couple had one major requirement when it came to finding the perfect wedding venue...they wanted to party all night long (literally)! Many venues, especially ones in historic locations, have quiet hours, so finding "the one" was no easy task. Finally, they found Villa Nautilia, and they were ready to plan the most epic party their guests had ever seen! We love seeing weddings that embrace the actual celebration–the marriage takes place at the ceremony, the wedding is the party that you plan around that.

Not For You Mykonos, their planner, saw their vision and was ready to bring it! They hired not one, but TWO DJs for this crazy night. Studio 7 created these bright, whimsical arrangements that really set the tone for the wedding. The Lightboxtales took these awesome photos that look like they're straight out of a fashion editorial and Yes And Tonic hung out with the couple and got every special moment on video. THE PARTY DON'T STOP

Magic in Mykonos

It was important to us was that we could celebrate all day and all night with the people we love. As Thibault is from France and I’m from Holland, we both have friends living all over the world, people would have to travel no matter what. The all-night part made us check out party islands. We started contacting agencies on different islands and checked out venues we thought would be a good match. Finally, we got in touch with the owners of Villa Nautilia in Mykonos. As soon as we saw the pictures we fell in love with the place and could totally picture our wedding there. Everyone booked their trip to Mykonos and after some fun times on the island together THE day arrived.

TIME TO GET READY

Magic in Mykonos

They call Mykonos the island of the wind, and the week before the wedding it lived up to its name. But, as if it was meant to be, the weather on our day was perfect. The morning started very relaxed, everyone had breakfast and after that, we parted ways. My best friend, Hannah, and my mother joined me in our room to help me get ready and Thibault went to his parents' room in the villa. He was prepping the lemonade and having fun with his friends while walking around in his swim shorts until the photographer and videographer had to force him to get ready. When they told me about that I just remember laughing and thinking, ‘That sounds like my fiancé’. The moments we both had while getting ready were so special and intimate. From the balcony, I could peak down to where the ceremony was being set up and it made me excited–to see the arch with flowers and the view of the ocean behind it. I could hear people arriving–it was almost time.

HIGH FIVE?

Magic in Mykonos

When everyone was seated, the music started to play. Thibault made his entrance with his mother, my mother and his dad followed, and then the witnesses. They were dancing their way down the aisle. It was already a party. The moment of my father walked me down the aisle, and the look on Thibault's, it felt like a movie. Charles, who we call Carlito, is one of Thibault's best friends, and he officiated the wedding, which made it so special. He had the right balance between humor, personal words, and the official parts. The speeches were by Thibault's brother and my brother. It was so emotional and touching. After our vows and the ring exchange, of course, we had to be different, and instead of immediately going for the kiss we had a high five routine–followed by a passionate kiss, no worries. After the ceremony, we had some refreshing drinks and there was some time for pictures. The photographer and videographer asked us if we wanted to go into the villa and take some couple's shots. They made us feel so comfortable and had great ideas, it shows in the outcome. The connection was amazing.

DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY

Magic in Mykonos

Then it was time to celebrate! By scooter, quad, or feet we all moved to Liasti on the beach. The sky was pink and there was a magical vibe. We chose to have a flying buffet so it would feel really chill and people could sit/stand/dance wherever and whenever they want. Each course by Liasti was delicious. We stopped the music for the speeches by my dad, Freddie (Thibault's Best Man), and Hannah (my Maid of Honor). Emotions were running high again–a rollercoaster of laughter and tears. This was followed by a lot of dance circles/battles/improvisations to the beats by our DJs and friends, Lieke Trienekens and Sunny Bakhtiar. The time flew by that night. To see all those people you care about together in one place is so meaningful and unforgettable. Our advice is to have some moments as a couple together during the wedding to be aware of it all and enjoy it together. A huge shout out to Celia, our photographer and friend, for capturing the magic of our wedding in the best possible way. We are incredibly thankful for everyone that was a part of making this the most beautiful day of our lives and hope this makes you excited to plan yours.
