The Texas Couple Kept Their Wedding Date and Nailed Plan B

The Texas Couple Kept Their Wedding Date and Nailed Plan B

Lyle & Josh were married this June in Texas after making the challenging decision to go with a pretty fabulous Plan B! After meeting 7 years ago at Lyle's family-owned restaurant on South Congress in Austin, Texas, they fell instantly in love with Josh cautiously approaching the "bosses’ daughter" to ask for a date.

Despite almost all details changing, their Plan B was executed at their family lake house with the silver lining being a long-time dream of the bride's mother. With their original plans slated at a local venue with a much larger guest count, we sprang into action with new plans for 2020, while moving their large party to 2021 in celebration of their 1-year anniversary. While sitting on pins and needles waiting for Texas to re-open safely, we continued with plans and finally had our window to execute the wedding day! With their original photographer unable to fly in from California, the couple hired the fabulous Britni Dean Photography two weeks prior to the wedding day to document the festivities.

The Texas Couple Kept Their Wedding Date and Nailed Plan B

June 13th, 2020 was a day to remember and it was an emotional one. It certainly wasn't the easiest process changing details, disappointing vendors who couldn't fly in to execute contracts and altering food & beverage services to meet health standards. But, boy were we surprised at how fabulous the day was! We brought in a team to keep the event space constantly sanitized along with a relief station.

The weekend started with a staggered two-day set-up on property bringing in several teams to prepare the property for guests! With rentals by Whim Hospitality and upscale restrooms by Fancy Flush arriving first to set the groundwork for the weekend along with alcohol delivery by Spec's. On day two, we were met by the gorgeous design work of Clementine Botanical Art and the culinary team from Word of Mouth Catering and Sweet Treets Bakery. Ilios Lighting also came in to illuminate the trees and hang festoons throughout the reception space.

It was finally wedding day and the day went off without a hitch thanks to a team of professionals ready and eager to make dreams come true. The girls and guys both got ready at two different homes on property making it easy to avoid each other before the ceremony. The bride's Chantel Lauren gown is one of our all-time favorites with the most gorgeous floral detailing. We loved the pops of color in the florals, blue dresses and tablecloths to bring in some vibrance to 2020.

Guests arrived to the family lake house and were greeted by parking attendants led by Central Texas Valet then leading them to the ceremony site. Musical stylings by Mariachi Amor provided a nod to the groom's Mexican heritage along with the bride's rich Mexican background via their family restaurant, Guero's Taco Bar. Before being seated, guests were greeted with watermelon & caprese skewers along with passed champagne to help combat the Texas heat!

The bride's Uncle Joe officiated the ceremony and laughter erupted over Lake Travis along with many sentimental tears. Their family is thick as thieves and it shows. The bride and groom opted to nix their original plans of a first look and post-ceremony photos were underway as guests moved to cocktail hour! With smaller guest counts and limits to food service, we opted for an entirely passed reception. Post-ceremony, the evening consisted of cheese & charcuterie mini cones, frito pie tartlets, bacon-wrapped quail & more. There were different bites everywhere you turned and more items appeared as the hours passed.

Tradition was kept alive in the first dances and cake cutting along with speeches by the best man, maid of honor and family. Guests hit the dance floor more than expected with a great set by local DJ and friend of the groom. We couldn't forget the Corona for the evening which we have to note went untouched and was the last remaining beverage of the evening. It was a gorgeous evening filled with emotion and gratitude because two short weeks later and Texas would be back in a spike!
