About the venue

At first inspection I was eagerly searching to find out what amazing downtown San Francisco loft hosted this incredible event. To my surprise, this incredible swank, posh, and deliciously modern soiree was hosted at The Cooper Building in downtown Los Angeles.
The Cooper Building is retaking it’s place in the fashion district as the place to been seen if you are of a creative and artistic fabric in Los Angeles. The building is a collection of design suites, offices, show rooms, and artistic lofts located at the corner of 9th and Los Angeles Streets in the heart of the fashion district. The Cooper Building has been around since 1927 and today it represents a grand integration of the fashion arts in all media – design, digital, photography, and textile – brilliant!

Ask the expert

If you are a “wedding aficionado” then you might have guessed that this artful decor was flawlessly executed by the one and only R. Jack Balthazar. The combination of textures is one of the key components to transforming a whitewashed industrial space into a modern affair that has all the style, glamor, and warmth that is a signature for this well-known design team.
The expansive windows and open-beam look that are associated with a loft space can be an incredible asset or a challenge – don’t try and redesign your space, work with it. I love how the design team has gift-wrapped the walls in a silky silver fabric creating soft fluid motion in the space, yet they have left the windows alive with light. The choice of a more translucent fabric softens the space and works with it as opposed to trying to camouflage it.
The ceremony design deserves a standing ovation. The creativity behind the unique ceremony design is captivating, creative, and completely couture. The combination of tall bar-height chiavari chairs, modern suede covered stools, and even a great comfy couch is completely fun. I have to give note to the flowers. Lucite columns, tall cylindrical glass vases, and mirrors topped with a monochromatic cascading arrangement of white on white – this design could be considered boring, but not here. They have used a combination of tulips, hydrangea, and other white blossoms to create texture, depth, dimension, and fun – not just your ordinary white wedding design. Love it!
