Shelley & Joseph | Vintage Cottage Campout Wedding Weekend in Ontario

Curt O’Neil, 2012
One of the biggest buzzes around the Storymix offices here has been the photos we received from Shelley and Joseph’s Canadian vintage campout affair. The dreamy photo session on an antique settee in the woods of Ontario had us mesmerized.
When picking shots for our newest round of Pinterest content featuring some of our real brides, theirs have been at the top of the list from the start.
So imagine how thrilled we all were when Shelley took the time to send us a little something about her and Joseph’s unique wedding weekend and her experience with the WeddingMix products. She begins by describing their vision for the day:

Held at Bass Lake Resort in Ontario, Shelley & Joseph hosted their entire event that was definitely a labour of love including homemade peach and marmalade jam, handmade floral table arrangements and newspaper stationery. The couple wanted ‘a perfect summer day at the cottage in the country with a dash of the 50′s, blue, white, with touches of yellow, mason jars, burlap, etc.,’ and indeed they did just that.”Shelley continues with her play-by-play:

“We had the venue including 7 cabins for the whole weekend, which allowed for our guests to come and camp out and in turn made the whole weekend one big moment! A lot of our family and friends really got to know each other over the course of the long weekend.

“Everyone helped out doing various things to bring the day together for us. It was wonderful to spend that time with everyone and then sit down and share a meal together on what turned out to be a perfect summer evening! It was an awesome weekend punctuated by many wonderful moments, the rehearsal, live band, our personal hand fast & sand ceremony, the yummy dinner, campfires, swimming, fireworks, & late-night s’mores!

“I know it is cliché, but it is very true that a wedding goes by really quickly, so at some point in the day take a second to step back look around and savour it; don’t skimp on wedding photography, it is an investment where a good photographer has a distinct eye and can capture the moments you don’t notice because you’re in the midst of it all.

To quote Fauna, the green fairy godmother from Sleeping Beauty, “I just love happy endings.” The idea of sequestering your entire wedding party in the woods for a weekend might sound daunting to some, but if the resulting bonding among the guests was anything like I’m imagining, I’m guessing it was worth it. Congratulations, guys!

“BUT,  Storymix gave us the choice to cut some costs with our wedding video. Videography can costs thousands of dollars, I am so glad we found Storymix! We absolutely love our wedding video, Best of all, it was all video taped by those we love most. Special Thanks to Ariane of Storymix for putting it all together.

“Some other shout outs go to…
