A FAMILY AFFAIR

Natalie & Chris are two moon enthusiasts and specifically planned their wedding day around the full Beaver Moon. Legends say this moon specifically has ties to love and prosperous relationships. The two chose the Dana Powers House in Nipomo as their venue for its open space and vantage point to watch the full moon rise over the rolling hills.

Natalie & Chris met on Bumble and soon realized they were best friends. Both Natalie & Chris have two children, a son, and a daughter, so they were able to connect easily. In addition to all things moon-related, they chose to make their wedding a day that truly reflected more than just two people coming together-two families blending to become one.

THE big DAY

Happy wedding party smiling together in a sunny orchard

To begin the day, Chris and the guys hung out on the rustic grounds of the Dana Powers House, with Chris’ mom shuttling beer from the bar to the guys throughout the afternoon. Chris wore a green tux, while Natalie looked beautiful in a dress she found on Pinterest. Their bridal party wore different jewel tones to round off the fall theme, and their bouquets & boutonnieres, crafted by By Request, tied off the look effortlessly.

Natalie & Chris’s sunset ceremony in the Dana Powers House barn’s backyard area featured the vows not only to one another but to each other’s children, as they officially became their adopted parents. Just before Natalie & Chris sealed the deal with a kiss, a sand ceremony involving the couple and their kids was performed to symbolize the six finally becoming one family.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the Beaver Moon began to rise, and instead of a typical golden hour bridal portrait session, Natalie & Chris opted for a dusk shoot that featured the very moon they based their wedding day around. The Dana Powers House features lush orchards, a vintage barn, and rolling hills, which made the perfect setting for the moment.

We moved inside the rustic barn for the best dance party we’d seen all year. Flora & Fauna Fine Foods delivered the most delicious, California-fresh cuisine followed by cupcakes at the dessert bar. Highlights of the night included the kids’ McDonald’s Happy Meal delivery, Chris dancing with both his daughters during the father-daughter dance, and Chris’ oldest son tearing up the dance floor.
