Some love stories begin with perfect timing. Maya and Dor’s began with timing that took decades to reveal its purpose. Remarkably, the two were born on the exact same day – just two hours apart. Maya entered the world in Japan to a Japanese mother and Israeli father, while Dor was born in Israel only hours later. Although neither could have imagined it then, their lives would continue crossing paths for years to come.
Growing up in the same neighborhood of Ashkelon, Dor attended school with Maya’s twin sister, and at around fifteen years old, the two even shared a kiss. Then life carried them in entirely different directions. Maya married young and became the mother of two wonderful children, while Dor traveled extensively before eventually settling in Panama.
Years later, following Maya’s divorce and Dor’s return to Israel during the pandemic, fate quietly intervened once again. The two happened to be out with separate groups of friends at the same hometown bar. The moment they saw one another, everything changed. “I still remember feeling like my heart was dancing,” Maya recalls. From that evening forward, the conversation never ended. They often describe themselves as one soul divided into two people who somehow found each other again—a feeling their family and friends recognize just as clearly.
After more than five years together, Dor surprised Maya with a proposal at a vineyard, despite knowing one another so completely that surprises seemed nearly impossible.

Although the couple initially envisioned a celebration surrounded by nature, their vision gradually evolved into something even more personal.
When they discovered Noor Gallery in the heart of Old Jaffa’s historic flea market, they knew they had found the perfect setting. The centuries-old stone architecture, vintage interiors, layered history, and unmistakably romantic atmosphere reflected exactly who they were as a couple.

One of the most distinctive elements of the day was the couple’s decision to host an upside-down wedding, allowing the celebration to unfold in an unexpected rhythm. Guests arrived first for cocktails, exceptional cuisine, and meaningful conversation, creating an atmosphere of relaxed connection before the ceremony even began.
Later that evening, at 9:30 p.m., everyone gathered in the streets of Old Jaffa for the chuppah. Surrounded by the ancient stone buildings and the vibrant energy of the marketplace, Maya and Dor exchanged vows beneath the night sky in one of the most emotional moments of their lives. The historic setting transformed the ceremony into something that felt both intimate and cinematic, beautifully connecting the couple’s future with the timeless character of Old Jaffa.

Beautiful food, heartfelt conversations, music, flowers, laughter, and joyful tears filled every corner of the venue as family and friends celebrated alongside the newlyweds. The reception unfolded with warmth and authenticity, creating an experience that felt less like a formal event and more like a gathering of everyone who had been part of the couple’s remarkable journey.
