Pretty Pink Ranch Wedding

gorgeous Washington ranch wedding @weddingchicks

Kyle and Jami's relationship initially blossomed through a long distance relationship between Portland and Seattle. Throughout the wedding they tried to keep things very Northwest. With their families and friends in either state; Oregon and Washington are places that they will forever be between. Including elements from each state as a part of their wedding was important to them.
Because they were asking everyone to travel for this "semi-destination" pretty pink ranch wedding, they really wanted them to feel like it was worth the drive and to feel the love that they share. See more in the full gallery here, photographed by Yasmin Khajavi Photography.

Details Make The Day

A lot of the small details of the day are what meant most to me. My mom handmade a lot of the decor including every framed chalkboard, our bride and groom chairs, and the signs that hung throughout. We tried to include nods to our relationship in the details. From the local beer and wines to the hand cut, drilled and tied wood slices at each table setting (which were cut from trees in our backyard), to the Voodoo Doughnuts truck (which was one of Kyle and I's first dates).

Budget Friendly Ideas

I tried to save money on items that I didn't think were as important. For example, our stationary I purchased the digital design through an etsy designer, paper n peonies, and used vistaprint to print- which saved us tons of money. We also ordered the bridesmaids dresses through etsy from a shop in China- which was risky, but I think they looked great on the girls! My aunt made our beautiful cake, the flowers on it are handmade sugar flowers- she did an amazing job and helped us save money there as well.

Rain Rain Go Away

Everything about that venue was just perfect and exactly what we were hoping for-and then it started to rain! I was so certain that it was going to rain the entire day and the beautiful outdoor venue we had picked was going to be a wash, but the sun came out just in time, which caused me to cry happy tears and need a make-up fix! I did not have a wedding planner so Kyle and I relied on friends and family members to help us pull it off!

Be Aware Of Time Limits

When I saw the tent for the first time, I was holding back tears. Sixteen months of hard work, planning and stress was over and the room was even better than I had envisioned. And that floral chandelier?!? If I could have changed anything, I would have liked the day to last longer!! I loved our venue is was absolutely beautiful, but because the reception was outdoors (in a tent) they have to comply with county noise ordinances. Which means our wedding had to end at 10:00 pm. When 10 o'clock rolled around I did not want the party to end!

Splurge On Videography

Our three biggest expenses were Venue, Food, and Videography. Our videographer was wonderful and spent two days with us before the wedding. They compiled the best video that covered all sorts of wonderful footage of our families talking about us, our bridal party helping us set up, the rehearsal dinner, etc. They played this short film at the end of our reception. People have talked about that video for months now, so I'm really happy we spent that money. See the video below, filmed by Living Sky Productions.
