the vision: the perfect balance of masculine and feminine

vintage inspired wedding tablescape

This wedding took place at The Willows at Ashcombe Mansion on a crisp spring day and was filled with romantic, antique touches, from the stationery to the styling details and the florals. Lush arrangements with a palette of sunset tones and accents of sage set the stage for a beautiful day. Feminine, soft touches, from the ethereal wedding dress to the tassels from the seating wall were peppered throughout. But then, subtle masculine accents, like the wooden charger plates and tall trees within the tent, helped to keep the overall look from becoming too feminine. We also loved how the surrounding gardens are perfect for an outdoor affair and placing a tent on the beautiful lawn.

the florals

pink peach and yellow wedding bouquet ideas

Designed by Wild Indigo Floral Design, the gorgeous bouquet featured shades of sunset, from peach, coral, apricot, marigold, and antique pink which served as the overall floral inspiration throughout the day. The venue has stunning antique hydrangeas throughout so it was important to incorporate them into the floral design and color scheme, as well. The Victorian Queen Anne-style mansion was built in 1891. Its three full floors of meticulously restored historic charm include old stone facades, original custom millwork, winding Victorian-era staircases, original stained glass windows, and much more.

The florals were stunning. The ceremony's focal point was an incredibly lush arch with numerous roses woven into it. At the start of the aisle, stoneware vessels featured a multitude of various florals, including Larkspur, roses, and the lovely antique hydrangeas. The cocktail hour had cute bud vases sitting atop each of the cocktail tables and a statement piece decorated the bar. For the reception, a gorgeous sailcloth tent awaited guests, with hanging pendant lights with greenery. The centerpieces were designed with an organic, natural aesthetic, allowing the flowers to flow and create a sense of movement. The varying heights of the stems add dimension and visual interest, creating a beautiful focal point for a table setting. Florals used included roses, dahlias, tulips, and spray roses. Tall trees were erected on the tent poles, as a way to soften the tent and further bring the outdoors in.

the fashion

v neck lace wedding gown

For the ceremony, the bride wore a V-neck floaty gown with floral appliqués cascading down the skirt. It was another nod to all of the beautiful, delicate florals surrounding her on her wedding day. For her reception, she changed into a sleek gown with lace bolero, to protect from a late night chill. It provided the perfect timeless look for cake cutting and dancing the night away, complete with a bold red lip.

how to make the most of your wedding flowers

how to repurpose your wedding flowers

A tip for bringing this look to life is to identify a few keywords and general palette for your wedding day, and allow your florist to expand upon it! In this case, we wanted creamy sunset tones and the florist created something more beautiful than we could have imagined! We also recommend discussing ways to repurpose florals with your florist. We were able to repurpose the stunning ceremony arch as the cake backdrop and move the aisle florals to the seating wall.
