Palm-Springs-Esque Elopement in Virginia

Happy couple in wedding attire, embracing outdoors

Allie and Pete were set for a destination wedding in Palm Springs. However, due to Covid, of course their travel and wedding plans become derailed. Determined not to let Covid stop them from marrying, they along with their wedding planner, created a Palm Springs-esque elopement on their wedding date in their hometown within Virginia.

The bright, vibrant colors Allie loves so much made an appearance, along with using some elements from their originally planned day, like the table linen and stationery and menus. Enlisting a local florist to create florals in their bright and cheery color scheme, she incorporated roses, peonies, dahlias, dried palmetto, bunny tails, and pampas grass, along with Allie’s favorite flowers, butterfly and peach ranunculus and free spirit roses. With Allie’s best friend and maid of honor serving as officiant, they were thrilled to wed and celebrate their love!

Allie and Pete met during the coldest stretch of winter in 2015 on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. They were both living in Salisbury, and although they both had graduated from Salisbury University a few years prior, their paths had never crossed before. That winter and into the spring they would occasionally run into each other while out with friends, both sensing that there was a spark between them.

The Dress and Flowers

If you love this bouquet, here are all the florals used: butterfly ranunculus, peach/salmon ranunculus, majolika spray roses, locally grown Shasta Daisies and white scabiosa and Baptisia, High and orange orange roses, Free spirit roses, playa blanca roses, local dahlias in orange, cut dried Palmetto leaves, bleached Italian ruscus, Bunny tails, pampas grass, white peonies, white snapdragons and yellow parrot tulips.

When Pete finally mustered up the courage to ask Allie out, they went on their first date on the Friday leading up to Memorial Day Weekend. The new couple was smitten, and didn’t want to leave each other’s side, so they spent the rest of the holiday weekend together in Ocean City. After a few more weeks of dating and getting to know one another Pete officially asked Allie to be his girlfriend on June 24, 2015, and before they knew it their summer love was blossoming into a forever love. Three years later, a new chapter began, as Pete got down on one knee in Sedona, Arizona and proposed to Allie.

The Tablescapes

The tablescape was inspired by the perfect coral linen that was planned for their original reception. Shades of coral also surfaced in the place settings, candles, and amber glassware. The menus incorporated a flamingo as another nod to Palm Springs.
