Playful pearls and plenty of treats added seaside whimsy in San Diego

summer wedding cocktails

When bride and groom Anna & Louw walk into a room, they're known for bringing electric energy and plenty of smiles, and this was no different on their beautiful, summer seaside wedding day. From the prosecco popsicles to the ice cream sandwiches, their wedding was full of treats and full of fun! The dreamy beachside backdrop of Scripps Seaside Forum was the perfect way to showcase San Diego, and the couple was able to perfectly complement the seaside feeling with touches of pearls and iridescence on every element, including the menus created by the talented team at Velvet Fox Designs. We promise you'll want to keep scrolling to how this incredible oceanfront day came together, all captured by Ariel Min Photography and planned with the help of Tres Chic Affairs.

Instead of a groom's cake, choose a groom's car!

Throughout their entire wedding day, Anna and Loew chose details that were classic and glamorous, with a touch of whimsy.  For the wedding party, the bridesmaids wore the perfect neutral champagne silk dresses, while the groomsmen donned classic black suits with bow ties.  The whimsy, however, came in the form of a vintage orange Ford Bronco as the groom's entry (and couple's exit) car!

Creating a ceremony space at the reception

With the help of Tres Chic Affairs, Anna and Louw created a ceremony space adjacent to the cocktail hour and reception locations.  To do so, the bride entered with her parents across what would later become the dance floor.  A gorgeous square-cornered arch filled with greenery and white roses by Modern Bouquet created the perfect frame for an ocean backdrop for the couple's "I do's."  When the ceremony was over, guests were greeted at the end of the aisle with a bar for cocktail hour, during which they could mix and mingle with a sunny oceanfront view.

Unique summer-themed cocktails

The bar for the wedding featured not only an adorable custom menu with a specialty cocktail named after their dog, Genevieve, but it also focused on unique, summery cocktails, including a glass of prosecco with a popsicle in it.  How to make the whimsy more glam?  Add vases of dried lavender florals like this couple did and provide a timeless white umbrella to protect waiting guests from the sun!

Adding understated pearl accents

To tie iridescent pearls throughout the decor, Velvet Fox Designs included the perfect gold-trimmed pearls as a means of attaching the seating name cards to the scalloped-edge menus.

Scalloped-edge signs around the reception and found throughout the different menus not only created a consistent design, but also complemented the waves of the ocean backdrop.  Considering custom signage for your wedding?  Make sure to choose a specific font and/or monogram and stay consistent throughout each item!

A cookie buffet: The perfect close!

Thanks to Hey There, Cupcake!Miho Catering, and Giuseppe Fine Catering, guests enjoyed a homemade cookie and ice cream sandwich buffet to close down the reception.  Something to consider for when planning a dessert table of your own is to offer guests travel containers or baggies in order to take some treats to go!  You could even consider monogramming the baggies and containers with your wedding logo for that extra special detail consistency.
