Planning this Fab Day
This fall, I had the pleasure of photographing Kayla and Dillon’s stylish Gadsden House wedding. This Charlotte-based couple met in college, and Dillon proposed near a waterfall during an international trip to Iceland. For their Charleston destination wedding, they wanted a classic look with a modern twist. Jeweled toned hues paired with soft neutrals achieve that exact vision.
Guests were greeted with an enchanting courtyard ceremony setup that included a hanging chandelier flanked by lush floral sprays set in concrete vases. Dillon awaited his sweet bride at the end of the aisle. Kayla, escorted by her grandfather, walked towards her husband-to-be with a radiant smile of pure joy. The couple held hands, shared a few laughs and loving gazes, before declaring “I do”s. A kiss sealed their marriage and the duo darted back up the aisle with matching smiles.
Partying At this Rad Wedding
Inside the Gadsden House, guests mingled within the historic walls snacking on oysters and sipping on signature drinks. The lounge set featuring an emerald green sofa with white, gold-trimmed accent chairs was a modern, high-end element that was perfect for Kayla and her bridesmaids to cheers on and continue the celebration. On the wraparound porch, a family-style table was set for the wedding party. Beneath the tent were set additional tables and a high top family-style cocktail table. Tablescapes included a mixture of light-colored florals juxtaposed against magenta and blue uplighting creating a classic yet festive atmosphere ready to get the party started.
After introductions and a few traditional dances, the laughs and champagne flowed during toasts by the maid of honor and best man – who happened to be Dillon’s brother. Before opening up the dance floor, the couple posed for one last set of portraits beneath the illuminated chandelier. A romantic, timeless image that reflects exactly what their wedding day was all about.
