Micro-weddings may be "micro" in regards to the exclusive invite list, but this elegant garden wedding is proof that you don't have to down-size your vision. In fact, a smaller guest list means that you can invest more in the experience and decor, which is exactly what this couple did for their big day. They leaned on COJ Events to bring it all together and find just the right venue and Melissa Atle was there to capture every last detail and special moment.

Kate and Carl were friends for over a decade before they finally realized they were meant to be together. After a year of dating, they moved in together—only weeks before learning they’d be in lockdown for the pandemic! Despite the situation, the pair cherished their time together and made beautiful memories at Kate’s childhood home. When things started to open up again, Kate took Carl for a weekend in the Berkshires with her best friends and their husbands. He proposed to her there, turning their trip into a magical celebration of their love story! Kate said yes during a weekend getaway, so a destination wedding was a natural choice!
They envisioned an intimate weekend with close friends and family, so they limited their guest list to 50 people and fully booked, The Madrona, a California boutique hotel for the weekend. From Thursday’s welcome dinner to Sunday’s farewell brunch, no detail was overlooked. After several days of activities (including a private winery tour and pool party), Kate and Carl wed in a romantic garden-inspired ceremony bedecked with dried grasses and muted florals by the talented team at Marigold.
We love a painted invitation suite, especially when you're having a destination wedding. It's a great way to capture the essence of a location and truly customize the experience for your guests. Plus, if you talk to your artist, they may gift you the original copy of the venue painting to have as a keepsake!
Let's be real, the bride's regal Milla Nova dress stole the show–simply breathtaking. But, the groom's black and white patent leather Air Jordans definitely gave her a run for her money (pun intended).
The garden vibe carried over to their reception space, a veranda dressed with hanging greenery, wicker furniture, and plenty of candles. Guests enjoyed a custom tasting menu with wine pairings while doodling on paper covering the table as a nod to a tradition from Kate’s childhood. After dinner, espresso martinis had everyone on the dance floor, partying the night away until two in the morning!
These vintage-inspired cake designs are still trending hard, but from the looks of it, it's also safe to say they're trending upward... Tall cakes are back and we love that this couple decided to use their cake as their something blue.
