From the bride: “My husband and I live in Arlington, Virginia, and after getting engaged at one of our favorite Virginia wineries, we made the decision to get married in a small town in Maine (where Kristi, the bride, is from).”
“We wanted our wedding to be low-key and topped off with some “do-it-yourself” details. Close to every item at our wedding was made by either us or our parents, including hand-weaved flower girl baskets, homemade cake toppers and custom cake stands. “The bride started her day on July 27, 2013 with her bridal party, enjoying champagne (compliments of the groom) while getting ready. Meanwhile, Chris and his groomsmen toasted the day with a cold beer before meeting the girls at the altar.
We chose a large stone fireplace lined with candles and family wedding pictures as our backdrop for the ceremony. One of Chris’ close friends performed the wedding ceremony, which made it feel personal to them both and centered on what is most important to the couple: friends and family.
After our first dance to Lady Antebellum’s “When You Got a Good Thing”, the DJ got children of all ages out on the dance floor and we danced the night away!
In true country fashion, Kristi wanted to have a “trash the dress” session the next day. Chris thought the best way to do this was on the four wheeler, in the mud, and we’ve got the videos to prove it! A special thanks to WeddingMix for helping us to document our special day!”
