How to Have a Snowy Winter Wedding in Vermont

Winter bridesmaids with mittens

A fresh snowfall blanketed the surrounding landscape for Hayley and Alek's romantic winter wedding at Stowe Mountain Lodge in Vermont. The new snow was the perfect backdrop for their romantic wedding vision that included lots of snow (of course), pops of red, and fresh greenery throughout.

Jaclyn Watson Events did an amazing job styling their big day with everything they could ever want, including personalized details like custom mittens for the bridesmaids and a wishing tree guest book. See all the heart-warming highlights below captured by the talented J.Harper Photography and in the full gallery.

For Hayley & Aleks’ wedding, family from different states and different countries gathered in Vermont for a beautiful and intimate celebration of their love. Having a snowy wedding was important to, a now Arizona-resident, Hayley! The choice in location was easy for her and Aleks, but coordinating the family and friends travel was the real challenge. Their goal was to make it as easy and seamless as possible for everyone traveling and really went above and beyond to provide for those who went that extra mile to travel to Stowe, Vermont for them. The extra effort on both the couple’s and guest’s parts really made the environment of the wedding feel so welcoming and intimate. Everyone there truly wanted to be a part of the event and Hayley & Aleks were surrounded by so much love on the most beautiful start to their lives together.

Personalized details

The couple provided a lot of personalized items for their bridal party and family, from mittens to glassware, they included a little of everything. It was evident that each and every person involved on their big day was so important to them. The guest book was a wishing tree; guests wrote their wishes and congratulations on tags and hung them like ornaments from a small tree, providing a neat and different way to have those personal messages reach the couple. Little touches such as those really helped make the wedding day a personalized experience.

Praying for snow

Aside from the environment and personal touches, a very memorable part of Hayley & Aleks’ wedding day was the snow, believe it or not! A sad truth of New England is that it does, in fact, rain in the winter. The week leading up to the wedding date was prime January thaw, with lots of rain and snowmelt. We kept all our fingers crossed, wore our pajamas inside out and backwards, and held our breath as the day grew nearer and we monitored the weather forecast. Then, those magical little snowflakes appeared on our weather apps, and the morning of their wedding the snow started and did not stop the whole day. The day provided a beautiful light snow and moments of that perfect glimmery snowfall that leaves everything sparkling and gave Hayley her dream winter environment! It was truly something special!
