High School Sweethearts Whimsical Backyard Wedding

High school sweethearts beautiful backyard wedding

We have some serious heart eyes over Megan and Eddie’s whimsical backyard wedding at the brides family home in Grosse Ile, Michigan. They kept their decor simple and chic with neutral tones and then amped it up with the most dramatic florals and greenery. Their stunning ceremony arch is by far our fave element, but that’s not the only reason we love their poolside ceremony so much! They said their “I do’s” under the same tree where he proposed and she said “yes!”. Does it get more romantic than that?!

These two high school sweethearts are textbook #couplegoals, and their wedding is the perfect reflection of their love for one another. See all the highlights below, and find more details photographed by Curtis Wiklund Photography in the full gallery.

Saying “I do” at the family home

From Cassy Rose Events: Megan and Eddie are high school sweethearts. Throughout their lives together, Megan’s family home on Grosse Ile, a small island just south of Detroit, has always been a gathering place for the family. In fact, it is so central to their relationship that Eddie actually proposed under the tree in the backyard. So when it came time to plan for their wedding, the choice of venue was a no-brainer.

Under the tree where he proposed

As it goes with summer weather in Michigan, it threatened to rain up until the last minute. So much so that a second ceremony site was actually set up inside the cocktail tent so as to give the couple the most time to decide whether or not to institute the rain plan! As luck would have it, the rain held off and Megan and Eddie were able to walk down the aisle under the very tree where he proposed.

After the ceremony, guests entered the cocktail tent and were greeted with delicious passed hors d’oeuvres as well as a number of chef-manned food stations. These included hand-rolled sushi and a caviar and vodka pairing. The dinner tent was adorned with lush florals and personal touches throughout.
