Bri and Dom’s story started in a somewhat unconventional place for a future couple: Nordstrom. They met while working at the retailer in Southern California in the summer of 2017, when Bri was overseeing the men’s division and actually hired Dom to join her team selling men’s clothing.
Five years later, Dom proposed on their anniversary at The Montage in Laguna Beach. He suspected Bri would never expect a proposal on such a predictable date, and his strategy worked. The two walked down to the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, where Dom got down on one knee with the ocean behind them.
Their path from engagement to wedding day was far more difficult than they could have anticipated. Shortly after they became engaged, Bri’s father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and the couple put wedding planning on hold while he underwent treatment. After a long battle, he beat cancer, and Bri and Dom finally felt ready to begin planning their wedding after a two-year engagement. As they moved forward, Bri’s brother was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer just seven months before the wedding. He passed away 46 days before Bri and Dom said “I do.”
Through an extraordinarily emotional season for their family, the couple worked with Bonnie and Bliss Events to bring the Cabo celebration they had envisioned to life. Bri had always known she wanted a full-service planner, but the circumstances surrounding their engagement made that support especially meaningful. The resulting three-day celebration at Baja Luna photographed by Xico Gutierrez became an opportunity to gather their people together in one beautiful place and appreciate the simple act of being surrounded by those they loved.
Espresso tones and modern old-money style
Bri and Dom knew they wanted a neutral wedding palette that felt natural in Cabo while remaining timeless and classic. Rather than relying entirely on lighter neutrals, they chose espresso brown as the primary color and layered in greens and softer shades of brown.
The couple described their inspiration as a modern “old money” aesthetic, which gave the destination wedding a distinctive look without competing with the surrounding landscape. The deeper espresso and green tones brought richness to the neutral palette, while Cabo provided the warmth and texture.
Small details reinforced the aesthetic throughout the celebration. Instead of a traditional guest book, guests signed a deck of cards from Aimé Leon Dore, while custom vintage-inspired matchboxes doubled as favors.
A Cabo bridal look by RISH
Bri approached wedding dress shopping without a predetermined idea of what she should wear. She had never been someone who dreamed about a specific wedding gown, so she remained open to finding something that simply felt right for the setting.
She ultimately chose the River gown by RISH Bridal, purchased at a&bé in Seattle. The dress captured the relaxed sophistication she wanted for Cabo while fitting naturally into the overall aesthetic of the wedding. She paired it with Badgley Mischka Blaze pumps before changing into a 12th Tribe party dress later in the celebration.
Dom brought one of the wedding’s signature colors into his fashion with a double-breasted dark green suit from Suitsupply, styled with a French cuff dress shirt and Stacy Adams shoes. Later, he switched into Marc Nolan loafers and a SuitShop shirt, while his groomsmen wore SuitShop suits with Stacy Adams shoes.
Personal details inspired by someone missing from Cabo
Bri and Dom filled their ceremony and reception with custom pieces, but some of the most playful details were inspired by a very important member of their family who could not make the trip: their dog, Carmel.
Guests found wooden fans waiting on their chairs as they arrived for the ceremony, while wooden cocktail stirrers featuring Carmel appeared at the open bar. Custom napkins, coasters, and matchbooks added more personality throughout the celebration.
The couple saved their favorite Carmel-inspired detail for the end of the night. As guests left the reception, they found a dish filled with custom brown tennis balls reading “With Love, Carmel.” Since Carmel could not travel to Mexico, Bri and Dom wanted everyone to bring a little piece of their dog home to their own pets.

Oysters, Chambongs, and mango margaritas
Food was one of the highlights of the wedding weekend, and Baja Luna’s culinary reputation played an important role in the guest experience.
Cocktail hour began with an Oyster & Chambong pairing that quickly became a favorite, alongside an assortment of passed bites. The team also made thoughtful accommodations for guests with dietary restrictions, including gluten-free empanadas for those with Celiac disease.
The La Luna became one of Bri and Dom’s signature cocktails, offering Baja Luna’s elevated take on a mango margarita and quickly winning over their guests.
More than any single dish or drink, however, the couple remembers the experience of looking around and seeing everyone they loved gathered together. At one point during the reception, Bri and Dom sat at their sweetheart table simply taking in the scene around them, watching old friends connect, new friendships form, and their guests enjoy the celebration they had waited so long to have.
A three-day celebration in Cabo
Rather than limiting their destination wedding to a single day, Bri and Dom planned three days of events that gave their guests time to experience Cabo and, more importantly, spend time together.
The weekend began with a welcome party before moving into the wedding day at Baja Luna. The following day, everyone reunited for a recovery pool party dubbed “The Love Club.” Custom stirrers and napkins carried the personalization into the final event, giving the weekend one last thoughtful detail before everyone headed home.
After everything Bri and Dom experienced during their engagement, the most meaningful part of their wedding was not a particular design choice or perfectly planned moment. It was having their people together.
The espresso tones, ocean views, custom details, and effortlessly chic Baja Luna setting gave the celebration its visual identity, but the heart of the weekend came from something far more personal. After a long and deeply emotional road to the altar, Bri and Dom finally had the opportunity to stop, look around, and celebrate their marriage surrounded by the people they loved most.
