A Pop-Up Wedding

Growing up in two different states, Caitlin and Ben are long distance high school sweethearts who met at a youth conference in their early teens. They exchanged phone numbers to keep in touch and over the years and many calls, fell in love.

Originally, they planned to get married next summer, but while COVID turned the world upside down, it afforded them the perfect opportunity: a pop-up wedding. As busy full time students with jobs (and with Caitlin not big on decision making), the logistics and ease of a pop-up wedding made for a stress-free option for this long distance couple.

Breath-taking wedding details

Set at the breath-taking Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum in Wisconsin, the vendor team coordinated a colorful palette of teals, yellows, and peaches. The eclectic botanical design was inspired by the interiors of Amsterdam’s famed Bar Botanique. Caitlin and Ben said their vows on the on the terrace overlooking Lake Michigan, surrounded by friends and family seated on colorful vintage furniture. Their intimate reception was simple, but chic, featuring fresh lemonade and a bevy of delightful desserts. The sweet summer day ended with a champagne toast and a popsicle treat.

The most important thing to the couple was their guests. "It’s super rare for us to have our families together because we live in separate states," Caitlin shares. "Although it was a head-in-the-clouds kind of day, the conversations, hugs, and smiles shared with our friends and family that day are something we'll remember forever."

Planning Advice

Their advice for other couples planning? "Our advice to any couple planning their wedding is to get a good coordinator. Our wedding coordinator was phenomenal and made the day flow smoothly. Without her we would have been a train wreck. Also, try not to stress too much. Once the day has passed, the fond memories are what lasts."
