A Los Cabos wedding that went coco-nuts for earthy boho design

boho tropical wedding design

Natalia and Colin met when they both were working for the same company. When Natalia travelled to Canada to visit some clients, the other team member they sent with her happened to be Colin. Their meet-cute was straight out of a rom-com: Natalia running into Colin as she exited an elevator with all of her luggage. After helping her to her room, they went on their first unofficial date to the top of the CN tower (a huge sky needle in Toronto). Three years later, Colin was with Natalia in Canada again, but this time to propose! Keep scrolling to see how their wedding day at Baja Luna came together with the help of Bliss Events, all captured on camera by Shannon Chisterson.

Choosing a wedding dress with a mission

Natalia knew she wanted a wedding dress from an Australian designer, which led her to Grace Loves Lace. She fell in love with their mission: Gowns designed to have soul, originality, and authenticity. Her first dress was the Oceania with a pearly veil. She accessorized with matching pearl earrings and pearl wedding shoes for a sophisticated and modern look that still felt fun. Her second dress was the Noah - a feminine yet bohemian look. The off-the-shoulder lace armbands and lace details on the back that looked like butterfly wings helped Natalia have the perfect uniquely modern second look.

Giving the bridesmaids multiple dress options

Natalia gave her bridesmaids four dress options to choose from, with each coming in three different colors. This allowed each bridesmaid to choose their favorite and feel their best the day of! The mix and match color palette was exceptionally chic while also being on trend. Colin and his groomsmen wore custom-made light tan linen suits with white linen collard long-sleeve shirts for a casual yet modern look. They accessorized with light brown loafers to match their light brown satin pocket squares.

A sunset catamaran welcome party

Because this was a destination wedding, the couple rented a catamaran a few days before the big day and hosted 60 of their best friends join them for an all-white sunset party cruise with open bar. Not only was the party a blast, but they were also visited by a pod of dolphins who swam alongside the boat as the sun was setting.

Signs in shades of nudes and neutrals

The bride and groom worked with Bliss Events to create their boho chic wedding with a "shades of nudes and neutrals" color palette. Bliss Events made sure that all of the signage by US Creating, tablescapes, and florals courtesy of Velvet Floral included earthy elements and blended seamlessly with their venue: Baja Luna.  The perfect example of this styling was the couple's fun and stylish coconut seating chart from Bunker Project Studios and Black Palm Cabo!

The biggest time-saver: Having a plan

What helped the most was that bride Natalia knew exactly what she wanted going into the planning process. She had organized interest boards into specific categories, including types of photos she wanted to be captured. Colin, of course, got the final say! What the bride couldn't plan? The grasshopper and rainbows that appeared on their wedding day - both meaningful symbols of good luck.

Meaningful wedding day symbols

These weren't the only symbolic instances on their wedding day. Before walking on stage to be introduced and Mr. and Mrs., Colin and Natalia were hiding behind mango trees to prevent the crowd from seeing her second dress. As they were waiting, the bride was telling Colin the meaning behind seeing a mango drop (the mango is a symbol of love, fertility, wealth, and happiness in many cultures). At that exact moment, the DJ (Alex DJ Cabo Events) said, "Introducing for the first time...," and a mango dropped right in front of the couple.

What to do when you forget your garter

The only hiccup throughout the day? When the bride forgot to bring her garter to the venue. Bonnie, the owner of Bliss Events, immediately went into problem-solving mode. She told Natalia not to worry and that she would find a solution soon. When she returned, Bonnie had created a garter out of hair ties and ribbon!

Rubber duckies at the garter toss!

This makeshift garter was an extra funny surprise, especially after Colin chose the Mission Impossible theme song for the garter toss and went under Natalia's dress with a snorkel on his face. He proceeded to pull out rubber duckies from his pockets, and ducks were flying everywhere from underneath her dress. Everyone - including the bride - was laughing so hard that the makeshift garter practically went unnoticed!
