A light checkered dance floor was perfect for a summer MV wedding

white bouquet with florals

Elizabeth and Josh met at work, becoming close friends and regularly grabbing lunch together in their free time. Lunch dates soon led to cocktail dates after their shifts together, and on one of those post-work hangs, Josh mustered up the courage to tell Elizabeth how much he loved her. Once Josh began joining her family for their summertime trips to Martha's Vineyard, he knew it would be the perfect place to propose. The following year, he took her on a walk out to Lighthouse Beach, where he got down on one knee. That evening was spent celebrating their proposal with champagne at the Harbor View Hotel, and a private dinner with family hosted by a local chef.

In a swirl of late summer sun, this wedding designed by Timeless Event Planning brought playful and organic elements to the forefront of a timeless wedding on Martha’s Vineyard. "Natural" and "organic" were two key elements of the day's theme, from the flowers to the decor

Much of the decor for Josh and Elizabeth's wedding day was focused on natural and organic elements. Elizabeth’s dress by Mira Zwillinger was quite literally covered in three-dimensional florals which adorned whimsical layers of tulle. She later changed into a floral mini dress with the same cheerful spirit.

The couple learned some valuable advice along the way

Their best wedding planning advice is to "do what is important to the two of you and trust your gut." Elizabeth shared, "There were a few scenarios where I wish I went with my instinct, and it would’ve saved me a lot of time from being torn over decisions that I went with in the end."

Every detail (like the checkered dance floor!) added an element of summertime whimsy

The couple also loved the idea of woven details, like lanterns, placemats, and baskets, symbolizing two people coming together for eternity. A striking checkered dance floor was made of white and natural wood. This created a visually beautiful outdoor space where lanterns dressed in greenery hung from above. Their escort card display of individual flowers celebrated guests while greenery danced from floor to ceiling. Guests enjoyed dining on fresh oysters in a euphoric and organic reception overlooking the harbor.
