Charming Salt Lake City Wedding

vintage style wedding gown

The leaves have all turned their various shades of gold and fallen off the trees. To help us remember their beauty we have a charming Salt Lake City wedding for all you Brides planning a fall style wedding.
Anna and Craig love the fall, and all beautifulness of their hometown of  Salt Lake City, Utah. So, they knew right that wanted a canyon reception venue in their hometown. They were actually married on the first day of autumn in Salt Lake Temple followed shortly by a rustic wedding reception at Log Haven.  All beautifully captured by Utah wedding photographers Green Apple Photography. As always there is so much more to see in the full wedding gallery here.

As far as the reception goes, the three most important things to us were having our families and closest friends present, having good food and lots of dancing. We knew right away Log Haven would be the perfect venue for the ring ceremony and reception. We loved having the comfort that in case of bad weather we could always have the entire reception inside the restaurant, plus the food was already taken care of!

As far as the mood/feel we wanted a rustic elegance type of feel. Log haven is already so rustic and beautiful we really just wanted to add natural details that would tie in with the overall feel of the restaurant. We had classic white tablecloths with real moss for table runners. We also had lots of twig and moss balls of different sizes scattered throughout the tables, as well as lots of tea lights and flowers with burlap wrapped around the various vases.

We set up lights outside and well as mason jars that hung down with tea lights and sand. I made most of the decorations and it really was so simple. I used the paper mache technique to make three doily cloth balls that we hung out of the door as guests walked outside. Some of our best memories of our wedding day included our temple sealing, dancing, and having all of our closest friends and family together in one place to celebrate. We had family travel from all over the country to celebrate with us so it was really special to have everyone be together.

What they wished they would have done differently:As far as our wedding day goes, if we were to do it all over again our biggest regret is not taking the time the next day to write down in a journal how we felt on our wedding day and little memories and details we noticed throughout the day. Even though I love being able to look through our pictures and watch our wedding video, I would love to have at least a little something written down from the two of us expressing how we felt and little moments that were so important to us that day. For so long you dream and plan about your wedding and then all of a sudden it happens, and in a blink of an eye it is over. I would love to be able to read that entry every once in a while and remember in our own words how we exactly felt.

Read on to hear from Anna how she and Craig budgeted for this charming Salt Lake City wedding.

Craig and I had a set budget and we made sure not to spend a penny more. When we first began to plan details we wrote a list of elements we wanted to include at our wedding. From that list we were able to rank the items that were the most important to us for example: venue, food, photographer, music. After looking at a few different venue locations for the reception, we realized that having our reception at a restaurant would actually be less expensive due to catering set up costs. Log haven was where the majority of our budget went because it was exactly what we wanted and it was very comparable in price to other locations. It was so nice to also have the food already taken care of! Another benefit of having it at a restaurant was that it was already decorated. Log Haven took care of the little details that would have pushed us over our budget. They included the tables, linens, lighting, and event planning. After paying for the band, photographer, wedding dress and videographer, we didn’t have too much money left. I made and borrowed almost all of our decorations for our wedding with the help of amazing friends. Our flowers, cake, getaway car, were all in one-way or another provided by friends. Budget aside, what matters most is the decision that we made that day and the people who were there to celebrate with us. Craig and I are high school sweethearts and it was the most amazing day to have our families and closest friends that have watched our love grow throughout the years to be together in one place.
