Charming DIY Wedding in Lavender & Gold: Kansas City’s Sweetest Day

Share

Elegant bride and groom pose in rustic wedding photo

Chie and Will are officially the sweetest couple ever! These two madly in love humans stole our hearts with their charming DIY wedding in lavender and gold. The Bride and the Bauer was the unique venue of choice, and if you’re a Kansas City bride-to-be, it should definitely be on your radar.

Hallie Sigwing Photography captured every heartfelt moment you’re about to see, including happy tears and all. Twinkle lights, DIY confetti, and fresh lavender are just some of the highlights below + in the full gallery. And if you’re curious what a wedding like this may cost you, don’t miss the budget breakdown at the very end.

Chie and Austin got married at The Bride and the Bauer in Kansas City, Missouri back on August 17th. The Bauer is one of my favorite venues to work at. It has this beautiful pink hue on a large portion of walls, and it creates this gorgeous feeling of warmth whenever you’re there.

Chie and Will’s wedding day was one of the most romantic, emotional weddings I’ve ever been a part of! Seriously – the entire day was the definition of sweet from beginning to end. Chie’s family lives in Osaka, Japan and traveled to Kansas City to see her marry the love of her life. They only see each other every couple of years because of the distance, so this meant a lot to Chie. The entire ceremony and all of the toasts were printed off in Japanese for her family to be able to share in the experience along with their English speaking guests.

Will is a professional musician, and he surprised Chie mid-reception by performing a song for her that he had written. Many parts of the day were DIY – Chie’s favorite colors are lavender and gold. She made the centerpieces and bouquets with her bridesmaids using local florals and tons of fresh lavender. One of my favorite details of the night was their send off – Chie and Will made their own biodegradable confetti with fresh lavender and dissolvable colorful papers. Because they were using it in a public space they wanted to create as little mess as possible for the venue to deal with post-wedding and keep the street and sidewalk clean! The fresh lavender made the send-off also smell fantastic while being eco friendly – added bonus.
