Calming Country Ceremony

From Brea McDonald Photography: Sam and Julianne were married at Shady Lane Farm on July 11, 2015. The couple knew they didn't want a traditional wedding and being surrounded by family and friends with great food and amazing scenery was what was important to them.

Shady Lane Farm is an absolutely gorgeous barn wedding venue with beautiful fields and wild flowers on the property. The beautiful blue sky was the perfect backdrop to their outdoor ceremony.

Cocktails & Toasts

The celebration continued with cocktail hour outside of the barn with an amazing meat and cheese spread from Dandelion Catering. Guests were also welcome to enjoy lawn games outside which was fitting for the casual feel Julianne and Sam wanted for their wedding.

Dinner and toasts were held inside the barn along with dancing of course! To top it all off there was even a s'mores bar for an after dinner sweet treat!

Planning Your Big Day

From the Bride: My biggest piece of advice would be to work with a wedding planner that you really connect with and trust with your vision. If your budget doesn't allow for an event planner, having a day-of coordinator is also immensely helpful. Our wedding was out of state and required that we bring in EVERYTHING-- chairs, napkins, tables, you name it.

As an artist, I cared a lot about the small details but didn't want to be wrapped up in all of the coordinating during my big day. Having my planner, Meagan Gilpatrick of Maine Seasons Events, by my side through all of the challenges we faced was a life saver.
