Set along the Mexican Caribbean in Tulum, this luxury destination wedding editorial embraces a bolder interpretation of beachfront romance. Inspired by a cosmopolitan New York couple, the concept brings together sculptural florals, saturated red, unexpected fruit installations, bespoke stationery, and fashion-forward styling.
Rather than leaning into the softer neutrals often associated with Tulum, the design by MC Professional Events responds to Casa Malca‘s distinctive setting with something more expressive. Red, green, silver, and black create drama against the sand and sea, while contemporary details turn each part of the editorial photographed by I am Laury into its own artistic composition.
A lace-trimmed veil softened a sculptural bridal look
The bride wore a strapless mermaid gown from Paloma Weddings with a sweetheart neckline and lace-up back, creating a fitted, sculptural silhouette that reflected the editorial’s fashion-forward approach.
An elbow-length veil trimmed in lace introduced a more romantic element to the look. The shorter length allowed the gown’s silhouette and lace-up detailing to remain visible while bringing softness and movement to the otherwise streamlined bridal style.
Against Casa Malca’s art, architecture, and beachfront landscape, the combination felt contemporary without abandoning classic bridal details.
Green pillars created an architectural ceremony backdrop
The beachfront ceremony took a distinctly architectural approach to floral design, thanks to Canteiro Weddings.
Green pillars formed the foundation of the installation, topped and surrounded by arrangements in rich shades of green and red. Their strong shapes created a structured frame against the organic backdrop of sand, water, and sky.
The monochromatic green structures also allowed the red flowers to become even more visually striking, reinforcing the saturated palette that carried throughout the editorial.
Watermelons and red taper candles made the ceremony unexpected
Among the flowers were details guests might not expect to find at a wedding ceremony.
Silver candelabras held deep red taper candles, bringing an old-world decorative element into the otherwise contemporary installation. Halved watermelons were incorporated alongside them, adding bold color, organic shape, and an almost surreal quality to the setting.
The juxtaposition was intentional. Polished silver met raw fruit, architectural pillars met expressive flowers, and formal candlelight appeared directly on the beach.

As the editorial moved from the beachfront into the reception, the palette became moodier.

The result felt less like a conventional tropical reception and more like an intimate dinner inside a contemporary art world, sophisticated, slightly provocative, and intentionally unexpected.
Casa Malca provided more than a backdrop for the concept. Its combination of contemporary art, bold architecture, and Caribbean surroundings gave the editorial permission to move beyond the expected language of a Tulum wedding.
From halved watermelons and deep red candles to green architectural pillars, colorful poufs, wax cherries, and a dramatic silver, red, and black reception, familiar wedding elements were continually reinterpreted through a more artistic lens.
