The Proposal

Will and Anna met when a mutual friend came to town and invited a big group of people to a local Mexican restaurant for a birthday celebration. Sitting across from each other while sipping margaritas, they quickly began to hit it off, bonding over their alma mater, Hendrix College, our dreams of becoming physicians, and our love of the Little Rock food scene. Will had just been accepted to the medical school in Jonesboro, AR, and Anna was in the process of applying. A week or so later, while at the gym, Anna was convinced she saw Will across the room. Being awful with names and not wanting to seem rude if their paths were to cross, she quickly texted their mutual friend to double-check his name. Seconds later, she replied, "Will? You two would be perfect for each other. I'm sending him your number." Before Anna could object, she had a message from Will. They texted back and forth for about a week, and one day, Anna noticed she had a missed call from him.

Slightly confused, she quickly picked up the phone and called him back. The next thing she knew, she heard these exact words, "Hey, Anna, it's Will. Would you like to go on a date with me to the Pizzeria at 8 o'clock on Friday?" In a world full of serial texters, she was impressed by his straightforwardness and found it incredibly refreshing to know his intentions upfront. They had the best time at dinner, and the rest is history! The proposal was anticipated but details were kept secret. Will coordinated with friends to surprise Anna with a photo shoot near the Arkansas River in Little Rock, Arkansas with the Two Rivers Bridge in the background. Afterwards, they joined their families and a few close friends to celebrate. He proposed with the ring in an apple pencil box for a funny reason. One year prior, he planned a nice dinner and brought his backpack to the restaurant. Anna happened to see a wrapped box in the backpack and spent the entire dinner thinking he was about to propose! Turns out, it was an apple pencil for Anna’s first year of medical school. It was a running joke until the day of the proposal when he actually proposed with the same box. Being that the couple’s favorite date night activities include mostly homemade food and a bottle of wine, it’s no wonder they chose a vineyard for their wedding venue along with homemade options for the dinner. Will and Anna love cooking and in general always try to eat locally, staying away from big chain restaurants.

From the bride

“Vibrant Occasions did a phenomenal job with the food, from passed hors d'oeuvres and miniature charcuterie boards to entrees and service. We were thrilled when they even accepted the challenge of making homemade steamed gyoza, our absolute favorite, as one of the hors d'oeuvres. The charcuterie boards, in particular, were a massive hit with everyone in attendance. The Vibrant Occasions team created Pinterest-worthy charcuterie boards for each table. They perfectly mirrored the fun and eclectic vibe we hoped for on our big day by adding gummy bears to the elegant display of meats and cheeses. At the end of the night, they packed up little containers to enjoy at our hotel, which we very much appreciated after our long and exciting day. The chicken was so good we even used it to make homemade ramen the next day!” The design for their wedding was luxurious and inviting with so many fall colors incorporated into every detail. The warm and intimate atmosphere reflected their vibe by using a dark, moody color palette, vintage glassware, ambient lighting, and generous amounts of greenery. They also wanted to make things fun by making little gold animals, which held their guests' place cards. The bridesmaids wore deep tones in velvet further emphasizing a lavish autumn ambiance.

Advice For Other Couples

“We created a combined email account when we first started planning our wedding. We both have access to the account and could keep up with emails from vendors without remembering which email we used for which vendors. It also came in handy for tracking shipments from our registry and planning our honeymoon because we could both check on the status of things and knew we wouldn't miss any important emails. We still use the account routinely with any joint correspondence, which was a huge help when purchasing and remodeling our house.” As if their day wasn't perfect enough, Will planned a surprise for Anna with a beautiful vintage getaway car during our sparkler sendoff. They had such a delightful ride to the hotel and felt like superstars when we stepped out of the 1948 Chevrolet Fleetmaster upon arrival. It was the most incredible ending to their special day.
