Stylish DIY Mt. Hood Wedding at Silcox Hut

Share

This springtime wedding on Oregon’s Mt. Hood paired an amazingly beautiful location with a wonderfully stylish DIY aesthetic. The couple created nearly all the decorations themselves–most notable were the newspaper flowers that were hand cut by them to commemorate their Sunday ritual of reading the NY Times together.  Other DIY details include aspen branches brought from Logan’s home state of Colorado, and hand-knit hats, gloves, and scarves (made by the bride) for guests to keep toasty on the ride to the cabin.

Silcox Hut is a rugged and elegant cabin located literally on the side of Mt. Hood at about 8,000 ft. It is only accessible by a snow-cat ride from the main Timberline Lodge. The hut also accomadates overnight guests and the couple chose 25 of their close friends and family to stay overnight and join them for a catered breakfast in the morning. Another unique highlight for this bride and groom, was the ski back to the main lodge–complete with an unconventional “send-off” from their guests.
