A Moody Micro-Wedding With A Silver Lining

Share

Bride and groom share a loving kiss at their wedding

In the words of the great romance, When Harry Met Sally, “…when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.”, and for Amanda and Nestor, that sentiment is truer now than ever. They made the tough decision to postpone their dream wedding, but they still wanted to get married as planned. Their families and planners came together and threw them a micro-wedding that is giving us all the feels! Oh, and did we mention, there’s a pup involved?

Be sure to keep scrolling to see this beautiful Covid-friendly wedding come to life! Tiffany J Photography photographed the day, and P.S. & Associates Event Planning planned every detail. You can see all the images in the full gallery.

THE PERFECT COMPROMISE

Wedding postponement is difficult, sad, and truly a buzzkill. So, why not STILL have a small celebration on the original date, and then celebrate again when it’s safe to gather in large groups. That’s exactly what Amanda and Nestor decided to do and we are SO HERE FOR IT. Their wedding planners, P.S. & Associates Event Planning, helped them marry on their original wedding date, November 14th, 2020 surrounded by a small group of family and friends. Later next year, when life looks a little more normal (fingers crossed!) they will celebrate again at the original wedding venue, Smog Shoppe. For their micro-wedding, the couple picked the Amanda’s aunt’s backyard as the venue. The backyard had plenty of space (Covid restriction friendly), large tree’s and held great memories for the bride’s family.

Bride and mother share a happy moment before wedding

We took the initial style, colors, and look of the wedding and adjusted it a bit for a micro-wedding. We still wanted to bring that moodiness to the event, but also make sure we didn’t go exactly in the direction that the bigger celebration will be. Creating two separate events that complement one another but are not the same. Same but different. If you ask Amanda she would say she wanted a Halloween wedding, if you ask Nestor if he was down with that, he would say, NO. So, we brought Halloween to the wedding without it being Halloween. Balance and compromise are key to any successful relationship.

A TEAM EFFORT

The day started with Amanda getting her hair and makeup done by Emily Lynn + Co. with her future mother-in-law and mother at her Aunt’s home. Our groom, Nestor got ready with a friend nearby and arrived at the venue about an hour or so before guests. Tiffany J Photography started the day with some photos of Amanda getting ready (in her Lulu’s gown, she will wear a different gown for the larger celebration) and then a few of the finishing touches with Nestor. Both bride and groom stayed separated till seeing each other on the aisle. They will be doing a first look for the larger celebration next year, so wanted to do something different for the micro-wedding.

Rentals were provided by MTB Event Rentals, who also provided the wooden octagon arch that Amanda and Nestor married in front of. The groom’s aunt adorned the arch with the most beautiful fall florals and garland. She did all the centerpieces, bridal bouquet, and groom’s boutonniere. The florals took the space from a backyard to a full-blown magical oasis. For the bride’s bouquet a tie was added as the wrapping to honor Amanda’s father who is no longer with us.

Catering for the small group of guests was provided by Little Lily’s Kitchen who brought a taco bar and made it completely Covid- friendly. Guests feasted on pork pho tacos, corn salad, beans, rice, and loads of chips and salsa.

No wedding is complete without a cake, so a custom wedding cake was made by Hers Bakery. The cake design added to the moodiness and was guarded by the couple’s pup, Miss Abigail.

A  LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS

As the world begins to heal and return to somewhat normalcy it’s important to take the time and celebrate what we can. This micro-wedding is a true testament that love is surely not canceled. Celebrate the big and the small, even if there are slight adjustments to the original plan.
