PAINTERLY LANDSCAPE

From Billow and Mull: Jay and Christin took an ancestral quest to Scotland, the home of Clan Campbell, Jay's clan. It called to them in their dreams. That's just the kind of people they are. They FEEL deeply and DARE greatly. Never actually having been to Scotland, they both saw a picture of the Quiraing amid the rugged, romantic landscape of the Isle of Skye and knew it would be the place that their wedding journey would unfold. The Isle of Skye is the land of other-worldy adventure. Mysticism is woven into the tapestry of land, where the ancient now collides with the contemporary.

FREE FORAGED BOUQUET

Christin is an amazing wedding florist in Austin, Texas. She spent the day before foraging for native Scottish florals for her bouquet: Scotch broom, foxglove, red clover, cow parsley, and heather. She wanted a truly wild Scottish wedding that was a mixture of wild romanticism and old world charm. She wanted the bouquet to feel untamed, and a little mystical, just like Scotland.
It was so magical when the bagpiper at the ceremony surprised them with the song “Skye Boat Song”. Though it is most recently famous for the opening song in Outlander, the song is ACTUALLY about Flora Macdonald helping the Bonnie Prince Charlie escape to Skye after the battle of Culloden. AH! HISTORY is SO ROMANTIC!

Advice from the bride

"If you've never been to Scotland, definitely talk with someone who knows the area well to get some ideas. This was our first time in Scotland, so it was important for us to be paired with someone who knows Scotland and who knows all the best off-the-beaten path spots for photo sessions. Also, don't forget to factor in the day length - sunset was after 10pm on our wedding day!"
