The Big Day
In the bride’s culture, a traditional tea ceremony is performed prior to the American ceremony. The groom and his family brought gifts to the bride’s house whereupon being united they are presented with money, gifts, and jewelry.
After the tea ceremony, we left for the historic Admiral Hotel in downtown Mobile to get ready for the American wedding ceremony. After an emotional first look, it was time to say “I do” in the heart of Daphne Alabama.
The bride is a popular local makeup artist, after attending so many other weddings working in the industry herself she had thought of every detail throughout the day.
A Love Story
From the bride: We met through our mutual friend, my best friend, at her birthday party. After that night we didn’t speak until months later when he somehow got my number because our friend used his phone to call me after the birthday party in October. Fast forward to the next year in April, he said he was in town and was going to Seville for the last time (posted a status on FB), I then commented: “It’s always the last time for Seville.” Immediately after he texted me by surprise because I didn’t realize he had my number. It was a long day at school for me and I didn’t leave campus until 10 pm so I was already exhausted but he wouldn’t take no for an answer so I ended up going. We had fun with our friends that night but we didn’t talk until probably two weeks later here and there. I wasn’t looking for a relationship at the time but he slowly changed my mind. After 3 months of talking, he asked me to meet his mom, that was when I knew it was real.
How he proposed: In Hawaii back in Aug 2016. It was a planned trip for my birthday but turned into a surprise proposal.
