However, there are a few little things that we don’t expect while planning a wedding. Weather
Having a wedding at an unconventional spot can make the day seem way more personal and unique to you as a couple. However, it can also present some very unique challenges! Here are a few things to keep in mind:
1. These venues may or may not be set up to accommodate a large number of people, so they are likely not air conditioned. Make sure you take this into consideration and plan to bring in lots of fans, bottles of water, etc. to keep your guests cool.2. Outdoor areas or those with lots of plants can mean lots of unwanted guests at your wedding! Make sure you bring lots of bug spray for guests to use throughout festivities.3. Licenses and permits: The venue may not be set up with the correct licenses and permits for a wedding. Make sure you check with the city’s by laws regarding noise, alcohol, etc before booking anything.
Catering
4. Unconventional venues will likely not have a large kitchen setup like a traditional venue would. Keep this in mind when booking a caterer – you will need someone who is bringing pre made food, or who can bring all their own equipment (and probably a generator too!).
5. Alternatively, these venues are great for a good old fashioned bbq. There may not be a large fridge space so keep that in mind for planning accommodations for the cake.
Decor
6. A beautiful unique space can really help save money on decor because the natural space is a beautiful setting as is! Consider sticking with the outdoor theme and use potted plants as centerpieces (which can also double as favors!).
