Dreaming Up A New Trend

When Mexico City-based Maria Limon and UK based Butler & White decided to create together an inspirational shoot in the Sahara Desert they wanted to challenge the idea of an elopement in Morocco and showcase something new !! Under their new collaboration label “Style Led Creatives” they put together an amazing team of international creatives and met up with Utah based photographer Dallin Hassard in Fez and then drove deep into the Sahara Desert Morocco to create all the magic!

Arriving in Fez and travelling by road to Merzouga, Morocco takes you through some amazing landscapes and is a great way to start an elopement adventure. The day before our elopement ceremony, our couple enjoyed everything the Sahara has to offer, including the mandatory camel ride.

Won’t You Sahara You Love Me?

The elopement ceremony took place in an abandoned Moroccan Palace deep in the heart of Morocco. The wooden doors and crumbling walls made for a fantastic backdrop for the elopement ceremony, sweetheart table, and portrait session for this elopement. The Moroccan architecture is detailed and so romantic; this really was a hidden gem shared to us by our location guides Marruecos Experience.

We chose to include a coloured dress as we’ve seen Brides looking towards alternatives to the traditional neutrals. Spanish designer Alicia Rueda provided us with the show-stopping two-piece outfit, with beautifully elaborate embroidery and beadwork on the top. The movement in the skirt was magical with the light and airy fabric allowing for plenty of fun and dancing. We complemented this look with pink satin boots from Asos

Feathers were used throughout the elopement story so we chose a bespoke pair of earrings with delicate white feathers from the wonderful collection from Spanish designer Verde Agua Style. The rings were custom made in rose gold by US-based Rhodes wedding Co, they are superb and really unique.

Colourful cloud installations created by designer Maria Limon as a backdrop for the ceremony, really make a statement and bring to life the ruined palace. The coloured gypsophila used here alongside the hand-dyed ostrich feathers is really effective adding such a dreamy feel to the clouds. The bride’s bouquet incorporates the same flowers as the cloud installation adding more colour and texture to the bold overall look of the bride. Butler & White added a wide hand-dyed silk ribbon to finish the look.

The groom wore a sand coloured suit from Asos with a pale pink shirt which is left open to reveal a lighter pink T-shirt. The groom’s look was kept informal and relaxed to reflect the style of the elopement.

An Elopement Table For Two

The amazing stationery suite was created by Acqua & Ink with handmade paper, deckled edges and watery paint effects. The personal vow booklets and travel journey are simply beautiful. The delicate papers and intricate paint effects are inspired by the colours of the desert and crumbling Kasbah walls.

The low-level sweetheart table was set within the palace ruin and was an explosion of colour and textures and details, lots and lots of details.

The table was dressed with an eclectic mix of antique brass, French glassware, hand-dyed textiles and finished with contemporary cutlery. Butler & White sourced authentic Moroccan metalware and mixed it with unique modern metals such as the star-shaped candle holders and the mint lacquered flatware. Handmade candles from Danish brand Ester & Erik added further colour as well as atmospheric lighting to the intimate setting.

Maria Limon created a floral table runner using coloured gypsophila, preserved flowers and ostrich feathers. It created such a beautiful movement within the tablescape. A stunning cake created by French cake designer Avant Garde Cake Studio is finished with peacock feathers and includes lots of crumbling surface texture and hand-painted colour effects.
