Charlotte from Fine & Dandy shares the inspiration behind the ‘Fierce kind of Love’ styled shoot. The concept was to have an informal yet, beautifully intimate wedding for the alternative couple who wants to step away from tradition. It would seem the micro wedding is the way forward. Even before the pandemic madness of 2020, we were seeing a real trend in smaller, more bijou weddings. The micro wedding has never been so relevant, and we wanted to showcase that small, can still be 100% amazing and that little bit extra!

The unique setting was Harbour Lights, a waterside location in Lincolnshire. The hexagonal shaped venue with wraparound balcony and industrial features, was suspended directly over the waters, giving an exclusive feel with incredible views.

The colour palette was simple and elegant, with the use of monochrome tones with accents of silver, pewter and mauve. An array of black and white flowers were used, with highlights of soft violet. The florals were structured with strong lines, giving variations in height and depth. The bouquet and meadows were a mix of roses, chrysanthemums and carnations, whilst the tablescapes were full of simple black and white ceramic bud vases filled with gypsophila. Full of movement and texture, the florals added a raw and wild nature to the shoot.

The styling included tables dressed with crisp white tablecloths, and neat white linen napkins. Black stoneware plates & high shine black cutlery were used, with cut crystal glassware, and candlesticks filled with elegant tapered black and white dinner candles. The continuous rows of gypsophila added warmth and texture, in contrast to the modern, minimalist vellum menus and place cards.

Behind the sweetheart top table, was a contemporary metal grid which displayed a modern typographic ‘Our Favourite People’ seating plan. Also adorning the screen was a coordinated welcome sign scripted with ‘True love is when both people think they are the lucky ones’. An understated white two tier cake, with exquisite sugar floral details was also showcased to perfection with an oversized black organza bow, displayed on a black minimalist plinth.

Our real-life couple styled two looks… Our Bride Esther opted for sophisticated, minimal styling for the daytime, and a more vamped up, boho feel for the evening. Starting with the daytime look, the silk strapless column dress added fluidity and elegance, which was grounded by a vintage bespoke army jacket with ‘Lucky’ embellished across the back, highlighting the Bride’s signature style. Make up was fresh and neutral, with the focus being on emphasizing Esther’s big blue eyes.

This created a sophisticated but sultry feel, which complimented the loose, tousled hair styling which was weaved with an ivory silk hair scarf. The Bride’s evening look, was a clear contrast. The heavily embellished, cape sleeved dress was edgy and avant-garde, with a relaxed and laid back feel. Styled with loose, ruffled curls, and a fierce handmade pewter bejeweled crown, this look was far from traditional. Make up consisted of warmer tones, with stronger lips and cheeks, whilst Esther also layered endless silver jewelry, and opted for comfort and style with chunky black zip-detail boots. Could this Bride be any more fierce!

Our Groom Terry, wore a classic black tuxedo for the daytime, which he styled in his own unique way, with retro bracers, tinted sunglasses and his faithful Yeezey trainers. In contrast for the evening, he opted for a more relaxed vibe with undone dickie bow and leather jacket.

Making the most of the waterside location, our gorgeous models took some time out in the early evening sunlight by taking a trip out in the venue’s motor boat, whilst enjoying a drink or two. It doesn’t get much more intimate, and rock n roll than that! The perfect ending you might say for this intimate, and uber cool micro wedding inspired shoot.
