The Decor

Enchanted Vintage Chic Fairytale in Tuscany

The space we chose for the ceremony has never been used before; a meadow surrounded by a small romantic woodland, branches reaching out in the form of a beautiful arch. Caterina Weddings named this area “The Jungle” and this is now the name it’s goes by at the venue. For the ceremony we chose a mix of armchairs and sofas ranging in style and color because we wanted to recreate the ambience of a village festival.

Our pageboy, my nephew, sat on an original wicker chair that belonged to the Grooms Great Grandparents. The amethyst geode ring holder was purchased at a street market and was made of two complementary halves. We sat on a vintage sofa facing our guests because we wanted to involve them in the ceremony and we wanted to feel surrounded by their love.

Our guests had colored umbrellas and fans. Our confetti was a combination of daisies and rice. The aisle was made up of numerous different vintage-looking Persian rugs.

At the reception we used a multitude of different styles of bread saucers: some were inherited from my English Aunty, some came from the grooms family, some we collected during our travels around the world and others we bought from vintage street markets. A different one for every guest because we wanted it to be a tidy chaos where everything was planned to detail.

The wedding was planned using objects and details that belong to our families and friends, being that they are so close to us we wanted to feel all of their love around us during the day. Like we said in one of the readings during our ceremony 'Friends are the family that chooses you' so with this in mind we picked one of our best friends to be the officiant, my brother, to carry the rings and Luca's sister was one of the bridesmaids.

The wedding was a fusion of everything they love, which was perfectly translated by their wedding planner Caterina Weddings with a beautiful vibe mix of eclectic, hippy-chic and Arabian influences. They wanted everything to not just be pretty, but to have meaning and this ideas was brought into every details of the wedding, from the bread plates being sourced from local vintage markets frequently visited by my grandmother, all the brass pieces in the area lounge belonging to my  great grandaunt Amy, the vintage trunks they used for part of the styling (guest book corner and photo boot) belonged to our grandparents, so all pieces used have come with a history and personal attachment to their roots.

The lace and wooden tambourines were handmade. I also wrote the text to the ceremony myself. The large Connect-Four and the Jenga games were handmade by the grooms best man. The accessories for the photo booth were chosen by Caterina Weddings and I as we wanted them to be vintage and fun.

We also created the “tattoo corner” ourselves. I designed all the stationery myself and I created a logo with our initials and used it as a design on the rubber stamps, guestbook and cake topper. My Dad made the guest book using wood from an ancient Elm tree which grew on grounds of the grooms family estate. At the centre of the guestbook front cover my Dad carved the logo that I created. With the same wood, my Dad made a bench which we will treasure forever with gratitude. My Dad also made the cake topper using brass and our logo.

For the ceremony, we asked some friends and close family to read a poem during the ceremony and give a short speech on what love was to them. We also had the symbolic ritual fo the olive tree where we mixed soil from Luca's home and from mine to symbolize the union fo the two families that creates a new life. The tree is now planted in the grounds of Luca's family estate and it's very special to us.
