DIY Wedding Centerpieces: Easy & Breezy Floral Ideas on a Budget

DIY floral table setting ideas for a party or wedding

Our friends at www.countryliving.com shared some other fairly easy DIY ideas for creative wedding centerpieces.

1. Place simple groupings of flowers into coffee and soup cans that you can paint to match your color palette. Try using moss instead of floral foam. Flowers stay in place, and the moss is reusable. You can make them the day before and place in the fridge so that the arrangements stay fresh.

2. Come midsummer the farmers’ market is brimming with fruits, vegetables, and garden-fresh flowers. Picking up a bucket of these seasonal blooms. Pairing dahlias, clematis, viburnum, chocolate cosmos, chamomile, and eucalyptus berries with vintage containers for a look of rustic elegance.

3. Star collecting cake stands from local thrift stores and vintage shopes. This would more than likely be better for a smaller affair. Collecting 15 cake stands might be a bit hard. Trim the bottom off a floral foam sphere so that it can sit on a cake stand, and soak in water for at least 30 minutes. Clip dahlia stems short; insert into the foam until covered.

4. Write each guest’s name on a fresh lamb’s ears leaf with a thin Sharpie marker. Put a leaf at each setting on top of a small terra-cotta pot filled with moss. How easy is that?

5. Collecting small glass vases, egg cups or small tea cups that can easily be found at your local thrift stores. Place single stems purchased at the farmers market and place in the center of the table for that rustic vintage feel.

6. Instead of paying your cake maker to decorate your cake, place extra flowers purchased from the farmers market to tie in your whole theme.

Button bouquets that could also double as party favors are made with from an eastcoast factory that closed in 1940. They are around $28 and with the right theme wedding these arrangements would be perfect and of course they would not die.
