Disney-Obsessed Grooms Tied the Knot In Toy Story Style

Okay, so for some #fridayfeels today, we thought it’d only be appropriate to dose you with some Disney-inspired ✨✨✨ by way of the most uh-mazing Toy Story wedding we’ve. ever. seen. And what’s even cooler about this event, is that it didn’t feature the wedding of Woody and Little Bo Peep, either. It was a Woody<>Buzz thing! And it was greatttt.
Guess they got over that whole sitch…
Not going to say that we were over Disney princesses and fairy tale weddings, that’s not really possible, but it was pretty nice to see a Disney wedding that wasn’t all about Cinderella and Prince Charming. AREWERITE?
Disney dudes forever
As soon as Chicagoans Garrett and Jason got engaged, they knew they had to inject some Disney into the day. And the way they did it was all kinds of adorable ((especially because their guests were such good sports about the whole thing)). Both guys were Disney nerds (I can say that, because, I too, am a diehard) growing up, and even beyond their childhoods, the place still had a huge place in their hearts. Garrett often visited friends who worked in the park, and Jason actually fell in love with graphic design having been inspired by Disney artists and Imagineers.
And after only one trip to Disneyland together, this duo became even more obsessed with the House of Mouse. Add to that the couple’s shared love for Disneybounding - yah, new word for y’all… means dressing like your favorite character(s) in an inspired way, not just showing up as Aladdin with the harem pants and purple vest - cosplay at Comic-Con, and hosting epic Halloween parties every year, and a costume wedding kind of just wrote itself.
Hit the highlights
Literally every element of this wedding at the 63rd Beach Street House in Chicago was on-point. Including the magical photography, captured by Tiffany Brandt! The only thing that could have been even the slightest bit more perfect was having their dog dressed as Slinky…. Oh, well!
For the ceremony, the grooms and their wedding party dialed back the WDW wow factor, for a more chill representation of Disney characters, while their guests dressed in full costume.
The wedding script was perfectly-personalized, and included hilarious anecdotes of the dynamic pair and sweet stories saved up throughout the years.
Instead of a unity candle or pouring of sand, they tweaked the tradition to better suit their style and love for tiki beverages. They actually mixed a ceremonial Mai Tai, and drank it down as a nod to their newly-minted Mr. & Mr. status and a hint about their signature sips for the rest of the night. 🍹😍🍹 Somebody didn't poison the waterhole, but they definitely spiked it 😉.
Once the rings were exchanged and the first smooches shared, the Pixar-worthy party raged on.
When the guests weren’t dominating the dance floor in their Disney finest, they sat at tables themed with the most creative and artful DIY-ed Disney centerpieces. For the ‘Renaissance’ tables, Disney VHS clamshells were the focal points, surrounded by crafts and motifs inspired by the animated pictures themselves. And for the modern tables, Jason and Garrett did the same thing, but improvised with graphically-designed movie covers, courtesy of Jason.
Buzz Lightyear and Sheriff Woody danced to a reimagined jazz+Spanish version of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.” It legit had foxtrot, salsa, poso doble dance moves worked in 🙌🙌🙌. Haven’t we said before how well Disney songs do for first dances… or was that Father-Daughter/Mother-Son? Either way, it works!
And of course, there was a sparkler exit. Because, every good Disney event needs a sprinkling of pixie dust.
HOW MUCH FUN DOES THIS LOOK??!?!?!
Andy must have had it right all along… “the thing that makes Woody special is he’ll never give up on you…ever. He’ll be there for you, no matter what.”
And everyone needs a Buzz to help them fly or fall… stylishly, of course! https://media.giphy.com/media/13TFlMRow0MWS4/giphy.gif
