This lovely shoot was inspired by quite the bayou. An unlikely  source to find wedding inspiration, but as you see it is one of tremendous beauty.
Created by the talented and creative event planner A Splendid Occasion. Who designed the day to perfection with an urban twist. There are so many exciting and unexpected details in this shoot that you may not know where to look! So let us lend a hand and point you to the full gallery here. You can see all of the gorgeousness this boys in the urban bayou wedding has to offer, wonderfully captured by Matushek Photography.

words from the vendors

For this styled shoot, we partnered with a whole slew of mind-blowingly talented professionals. It features the most ab-fab real-life couple, Rob & Jay, and a group of their fun-loving friends. Our nugget of an idea came from Justin Boehme, owner of Da Levee, a delicious cajun joint in Columbus, OH. Amelia St. Studio came to me with this fabulous and one-of-a-kind idea and I instantly knew that we had a hit. I hit the ground running searching high and low for the most unique and creative vendors to make this dream a reality. Planning this shoot took several months because we wanted to get every single detail right, no exceptions.

I knew that we couldn't just bring any florist on board. This was such an unusual concept and I wanted someone who really knew how to handle such a different look. I immediately knew I needed to get the unbelievably creative Becca Blue Flowers on our team. A visionary. A lovely lady. And an outspoken creative who can manipulate cabbage leaves into wonderful pieces of art. Who knew?! Then came Matushek Photography - a pair of quiet masters in their craft. Their photos and their ability to work with a crowd of people, or even the smallest detail can't be beat. Their photos are deliciously devour-able.

custom wedding bibs

All of our rental items came from Vintage Place Settings, Marthette Vintage Rentals, and Prestige Wedding Decoration. Each of Marthette's vintage pieces are one of a kind. Come on, how amazing is that couch! I couldn't have asked for a better set up. Vintage Place Settings put together the most outstanding display on our dinner table, as well as our sweets table. Each piece of china was picked specifically for this shoot, and the layers of plates. Oh the layers!

Caroline Magnuson put together an impeccable amount of custom sweets. Street sign cookies with the couples name, cake pops, macarons, homemade marshmallows, and last but not least that croquembouche! Each of our grooms were dressed to the nines in attire from Apartment Number 9. A trendy and classy shop located in one of Chicago's hippest neighborhoods. Nika Vaughan and her team made sure that each of the guys were in tip top shape. She trimmed them up and even had time to complete a look for our bridesmaid too.

Last but certainly not least were our special guests, our officiant Kate Miller and the entire Gussied Band clan. What a hoot! These guys really made the atmosphere of the day electric. They have such a beautiful and eclectic sound that really got the guys and their guests dancing. We were blown away by our other partners' commitment, dedication, creativity and vision. Thank you to everyone that participated, you are all absolutely amazing!
