2. Improve Your Sleep Habits
Here in these United States, we struggle with making good choices when it comes to something like sleep. If we can solve the need for shut-eye with a venti triple red eye or a jolting swig of a ginseng infused energy drink we will proudly sacrifice a needed REM cycle or two.
There is a reason sleep deprivation is a tactic for torture, it can really mess your body up. So if this is something you have been trying to improve on this could be a great resolution for you. I did promise this was a post that isn’t about watching your waistline but these five things to do before bed to lose weight are just good all over tips to help you get a better nights sleep.

5. Fewer Screens More Pages
Looking to improve your mind? A good start is to step away from all the screens we seem to surround ourselves with. Set aside that phone, log off your computer, and turn off the TV, this year’s resolution will be to expand your mind through the wonderful world of literature!
That’s some big talk, but what if you don’t know what sort of books you might like? Fair enough, here is a list of 100 books that someone somewhere thought everyone should read. This will at least give you a good jumping off point and help in steering you toward the genre that you do enjoy. Think of this as your personal escape, so if the book is not holding your attention toss it and move on to the next one. Hint, not all of us are classics lovers, maybe you are intrigued by biographies, self help guides, or even graphic novels, whatever it is you will know it when you find it.
6. Get A Handle On Your Budget
Ugh, okay I will admit that this is my Achilles heel. Sitting down and mucking with facts and figures and charts seems to just shrivel my soul. And being single I have no one but myself that I am accountable for, so letting this aspect of my life slide has been so very easy.
As finances tend to be a major point of tension in any relationship (even one with yourself) setting a resolution to get a handle on your budget is a great goal. And to help here are six tips for couples discussing finances… psst, you can also use these tips even if it's just you. ;)

7. Make Room For You Time
We live in a society that rewards the overly industrious; but while turning yourself into a workaholic may be great for your career, it ignores the need for a little you time. If this sounds a little too familiar you might want to set at New Year’s resolution to set aside time in your day for that favorite exercise class or to quietly meditate or even move forward on that hobby you love doing so much.
That’s right, just do something for you without the thought of how unproductive it may be. Life is just too short not to enjoy at least an hour out of your day. Need some help with this task? Here are five ways to combat stress.
